Salmon in the Schools Fry Release this Saturday, 5/21 – Last release of the year!

Join us at 8:30PM this Saturday, May 21st for our last release of imprinted salmon for 2022!

This release is special as we will be releasing the 3000 salmon fry raised by 19 local schools as part of the Salmon in the Schools – Seattle program. CWCAP volunteer have been feeding and caring for the fry since the students brought them to the Les Malmgren Imprint Pond during the month of April. We will pull the plug and release the fry into Venema Creek shortly after 8:30PM. Watch them as they make their way through the creeks and out to the Puget Sound.

Where is the imprint pond?

The trail to the imprint pond begins right at the bottom of the hill of NW Carkeek Park Rd. Look for our Feeding Salmon Fry sign right before the lower meadow parking lot.

We hope to see you there!

Last Big Salmon Fry Release off 2022 is Saturday 5/7 at 8PM

Join us at 8PM this Saturday, May 7th for our next release of imprinted salmon!

We will be releasing approximately 27-28,000 salmon fry from the Les Malmgren Imprint Pond into Venema Creek shortly after 8PM. CWCAP volunteers have been raising these salmon for the past 6 weeks to improve their chance of survival and help them return to Carkeek in the future. Watch them as they make their way through the creeks and out to the Puget Sound.

Note that we will have one more release of salmon fry on 5/21 at 8:30pm. That will be the release of the approximately 3,500 fry raised by 19 local schools as part of the Salmon in the Schools – Seattle program.

Where is the imprint pond?

The trail to the imprint pond begins right at the bottom of the hill of NW Carkeek Park Rd. Look for our Feeding Salmon Fry sign right before the lower meadow parking lot.

We hope to see you there!
