Wigdahlis an honors student who graduated with a major in horticulture and a minor in design studies. During his college career he organized horticulture club plant sales, pursued multiple internships, participated in horticulture and landscape competitions, and was also involved in the Iowa Statesmen choir and Campus Fellowship. After graduation he started his career at Country Landscapes in Ames as a design-sales assistant. Metamorphosis A fascination that began with a butterfly hunt in Milwaukee when he was five years old led CALS student Cody Acevedo to pursue a degree in animal ecology at Iowa State. Pursuing that major allowed him to work as a summer research assistant for the Iowa Monarch Conservation Consortium and join 15 other students on a trip to Yellowstone National Park last spring. Beef Up Iowa Program Launched to Help Feed Iowans Through Beef Up Iowa, students and staff at Iowa State University will process cattle from Iowa beef producers who have limited processing options due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The meat will be distributed to food bank and food pantry feeding programs across the state. The initial cattle for Beef Up Iowa will be sourced from Iowa 4-H and FFA members. $4 mil. in scholarships are offered to students annually through CALS and its departments. 98% of CALS graduates reported they were working, continuing their education or serving in the military within six months of receiving their diplomas. 4% Iowa State University’s agricultural programs rank in the top 4 percent worldwide among other agriculture and forestry institutions, according to the 2020 QS World University Rankings.
