About the UHMSAEstablished in 1964, the UHMSA was founded as a place for Muslim students attending the University of Houston from all backgrounds and cultures to make friends and find a supportive community. The UHMSA seeks to create a strong unified Muslim student body as well as contribute to bettering our community through public service and outreach programs. EDUCATIONOne of UHMSA's major functions is its continuing drive for education, whether it is Islamic, career, or historical knowledge. Often times, UHMSA will host a speaker or create a panel of guests who are more than willing to educate young Muslims. We also have 3 regular education classes a week on Quran Tafsir, Hadith, and Dawah. Along with speakers, UHMSA is a strong advocate for interfaith work as well as any opportunity to educate the community about Islam such as our weekly Dawah Table.In addition, UHMSA offers specialized education programs such as weekly brothers and sisters Halaqahs, Daily Khatiras, a Quran Companion Program to promote Quran memorization and understanding, as well as a book club that promotes discussion of secondary Islamic literature. Speakers from varying backgrounds accept UH MSA's invitation to come to speak. Imam Siraj Wahaj Imam Siraj Wahaj seen here educating Muslims both young and old about the importance of the Civil Rights movement and civil responsibilities. Br. Fahad Tasleem Teaches a dawah workshop Often times, speakers come to UH MSA events offering classes such as dawah training as seen here.
