Which one should you use?SPIDER Login button University of Richmond students Students completing the New International Student Checklist, which includes: Students newly accepted as 4-year international students at Richmond Students approved to study for a semester/year on exchange at Richmond Teaching assistants approved to teach for a semester/year at Richmond Exchange students nominated by their host universities to study for a semester/year at Richmond Teachers assistants nominated to teach for a semester/year at Richmond External students with official permission to apply to a University of Richmond abroad program (rare) Username: The email address you used when you first created your Incoming Exchange application Password: The permanent password you selected after you created your Incoming Exchange application Important - Exchange Students/Teaching Assistants: Please refer to the University of Richmond exchange application instructions email you received from Diana Trinh for more information.Creating an online study abroad profile allows you to save preferred Richmond semester/year abroad programs and access them again easily. To get started, please go tohttp://studyabroad.richmond.edu/?go=CreateStudyAbroadProfile.You may search for semester/year abroad programs by clicking the Programs button in the top menu, as well as save them to your profile for future reference. To start a semester/year abroad application, click on the Apply Now button on a program s brochure page.Please note that you can only apply to one program per application term. Apply to your 1st choice program only; no application is necessary for your 2nd choice. Should you later decide to switch programs/terms, do not withdraw your application. Instead, please complete this online form and let us know your new preferred program/term. We will change it so you do not have to start over from scratch.See the Announcements section for study abroad advising hours and the mandatory Information Session schedule.For information about semester abroad policies and procedures, please refer to the Site Links menu on the right (desktop) or above (mobile).Please refer to the Summer Study Abroad website for summer abroad program information and application instructions and deadlines.International Education and/or your faculty directors will provide you with instructions for registering your participation in a short-term faculty-led program or independent experience abroad. For more information, please contact Patrick Schweiger at pschweig@richmond.edu.Once the International Education office receives your nomination from your home university, you will be emailed instructions for applying to the Incoming Exchange Program on GatewayAbroad.After you have started an exchange application, click the Exchange SPIDER Login button (above right) to log into your application. Do not use the SPIDER Login button to access your Incoming Exchange application.If Richmond approves your exchange application, you will be provided online instructions for completing the New International Student Checklist on GatewayAbroad prior to your arrival on campus.Has your exchange application been approved and you re trying to create or log into your New International Student Checklist? See the section below, Students newly accepted as 4-year international students at Richmond for more information.Please contact Diana Trinh at dtrinh@richmond.edu for any questions about your University of Richmond exchange program application and/or the New International Student Checklist.Upon your acceptance to the University of Richmond, the International Education office will email you instructions for completing the New International Student Checklist prior to your arrival on campus.After you have started your New International Student Checklist, click the SPIDER Login button (above right) to log in using your 5-digit Richmond NetID (example: js7nz). Do not use the Exchange SPIDER Login button to access your New International Student Checklist.Incoming Exchange and Teaching Assistant Applicants ONLY: Please wait to do this until you receive specific instructions about the New International Student Checklist from the International Education office. You can locate your NetID from your Create UR Login and Email questionnaire on your University of Richmond Incoming Exchange application.Please contact Diana Trinh at dtrinh@richmond.edu for any questions about the New International Student Checklist.When students applying to semester/year abroad programs use GatewayAbroad to send electronic recommendation requests, you will receive an email from studyabroad@richmond.edu with Recommendation Request from [Student s Name] for Office of International Education in the subject line.Within that email is a link to https://studyabroad.richmond.edu/recommenders and a Recommendation ID number. Copy the ID number and then click on the link. The Online Recommendation Submission page will open on GatewayAbroad. Paste the Recommendation ID number and type in the student s last name, then click Validate. You will then be taken to the Letter of Recommendation page where you may complete the various sections. When you are finished, click Send at the bottom.PLEASE NOTE: There is no Save option on the online Recommendation form. If you think it will take you longer than 15 minutes to complete your recommendation, you may wish to type out your responses separately and then copy/paste them into the form fields later.SOME EXCEPTIONS: For a few programs (CIEE, SFS, SIT and IHP), the student will provide you with a printed recommendation form belonging to that program. (GatewayAbroad will not be used for those programs recommendations.) You should submit those completed forms in a sealed envelope to the International Education office.TIP: To see the full list of your pending and completed recommendations: Click on SPIDER Login (upper right corner of this page) and login using your existing campus login information (NetID and password). From there, click on the Home icon (upper left corner) and select Recommender from the drop-down list.Reviews of pending applications:To see the full list of your pending and completed application reviews: Click on SPIDER Login (upper right corner of this page) and login using your existing campus login information (NetID and password).
