SUMMER 2020 MUSIC CAMP GRANTSDEADLINE EXTENDED TO MAY 15Purpose of the Grant ProgramTo provide financial support for music students that wish to pursue additional enrichment opportunities in music. Sharing the skills learned beyond the classroom with high school ensembles is an integral part of the grant program. Therefore, only students who commit to performing in their high school ensembles the next school year will be considered.Award AmountThe amount of the grant will be determined by the total number of applicants and the current year grant budget. As there are a limited number of grants available, typical awards are 200 each. The MPA Summer Grant Committee will review each and all applications that meet the eligibility criteria below to determine Grant recipients.Eligibility Criteria Students who are eligible for an MPA Summer Music Grant: 1) Current Freshmen, Sophomores and Juniors who will be enrolled in either an FLHS or FWHS music class next year, and 2) Will attend a music camp or similar activity (sorry, the grant cannot be used for private lessons, theater camps or summer music trips). APPLY HERE Fairfield Music Department is pleased to announceThe 16thAnnual A Cappella Night. A Cappella Night, 2020, will take place on Friday, February 21st at 7:00 pm, at Tomlinson Middle School. The performance will be held in the auditorium of Tomlinson Middle School. Doors will open at 6:30 pm and tickets are required for admittance. Tickets are 8.00 each and can be purchased at the door on a first come, first serve basis. In an effort to adhere to fire code and safety procedures, we will be unable to admit guests after tickets sell out. Tickets can be purchased with cash or check made payable to RLMS Music. No credit cards accepted. The performance will feature three chamber choirs from our middle schools and four a cappella groups from our two high schools. The event will also feature guest a cappella group, “Hofbeats,” from Hofstra University. WELCOME KEVIN BUNOA big hearty welcome to Kevin Buno, Fairfield's new Music Coordinator for Fairfield Public Schools. Kevin comes to us from Guildford, CT, where he was the Director of Choral Ensembles at Guilford High School (GHS), as well as Music Director for the GHS Theatre Arts Program, where he worked on 8 productions, winning a 2017 CT High School Musical Theater Award for "Outstanding Musical Direction" for his work on Sweeney Todd. He is till connected to Guilford, as he is Director of Music for St. George's Church. Kevin studied music at the College of Saint Rose, University of Connecticut, and New England Conservatory of Music. We already love Kevin's palpable enthusiasm for his work, for music and his new home in Fairfield. Please join us in early welcoming him to our community.
