Description:

YWCA Nashville Middle Tennessee is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.For 122 years, we have helped women, girls, and families in Nashville and Middle Tennessee build safer, more self-sufficient lives. We do this by operating the largest domestic violence shelter in the region so adults and children fleeing abuse can heal. We empower youth to break down negative gender stereotypes through Girls Inc. and AMEND Together. We provide the tools needed to become successful in work and life through Dress for Success and our Family Learning Center. Our programs are FREE to the thousands of people we serve each year and are offered to everyone.LEARN MOREIf you are in danger, need to speak with an advocate, or have general questions about domestic violence, please call the YWCA’s 24-hour Crisis Support Helpline:1-800-334-4628 or TEXT us at 615-983-5170  Who We Are We are one of the oldest & largest nonprofits in Middle TN focused on the needs of women & families. We are deeply committed to working on issues of gender, economic & racial justice. What We Do We help women, girls and families build safer, more self-sufficient lives. Our free programs focus on domestic violence prevention and intervention, youth development, and tools for success. Get Involved We can't do our important work without dedicated volunteers, supporters, donors, and advocates. Learn how you or your organization can join the mission to eliminate racism and empower women. Events From inspiring events like Spring Breakfast and Academy for Women of Achievement to the festive fundraiser Wine Women & Shoes, attending an event is a perfect way to support the YWCA! Stay Connected Keep up-to-date on ways you can get involved and support women, children, and families in Middle Tennessee! As the leading provider of domestic violence services in Middle Tennessee, we offer a continuum of services to keep families safe. The Weaver Domestic Violence Center is the largest emergency domestic violence shelter in the region, providing a place for women and children to heal. We also operate a 24-hour Crisis Support Helpline, individual therapy and counseling, support groups, community education, transitional housing, and Re-New at the YWCA. These same services are provided to men and gender-queer individuals, with emergency DV shelter offered at other undisclosed locations. We provide youth programming in more than a dozen Metro Nashville Public Schools. Girls Inc. empowers girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Throughout the year, the girls learn how to navigate media representation, financial literacy, college prep, and more. AMEND Together aims to cultivate healthy masculinity, and change a culture that supports violence against women and girls. Boys learn how their everyday conversations and personal actions can play into a gender stereotype that negatively impacts our whole society. They build positive peer culture while learning healthy communication and relationship skills. We believe in the power of education and self-confidence to inspire all people. Our Family Learning Center offers programming to learners of all ages, backgrounds, and genders. Free HiSET (formerly GED) classes are available to all adult learners, while our family programming gives parents tools to enrich their children s experiences. For women entering the workforce, Dress for Success Nashville is an invaluable resource to empower them through personal wardrobe styling and career support. These tools give women the confidence to succeed in work and life.
