HEALTH BEHAVIOUR IN SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION COLLABORATIVE CROSS-NATIONAL SURVEYSince 1982 HBSC has been a pioneer cross-national study gaining insight into young people's well-being, health behaviours and their social context. This research collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe is conducted every four years in 50 countries and regions across Europe and North America. With children and young people accounting for 42% of our world's population, HBSC uses its findings to inform policy and practice to improve the lives of millions of young people. [more] To coincide with the launch of Spotlight on adolescent health and well-being, the HBSC study has partnered with the Journal of Adolescent Health to publish a special issue, featuring the first peer-reviewed analyses of data from the 2017/18 international survey.The special issue, Understanding Adolescent Health and Wellbeing in Context: Cross-National Findings from the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children Study, includes 3 commentaries and 10 original articles. All of the articles are open access and available to read online for free.The analyses reveal findings with important policy implications spanning socioeconomic and gender inequalities, social media, and mental health and well-being and highlight the importance of investment in the adolescent years.EditorialNagata, J.
