BCSS On-Site or Virtual Learning Survey Dear Parents, We are currently making plans to begin a normal school year following our current school calendar. The first day of school for students is planned to be August 20, 2020. The survey below is designed to elicit responses from you in order to assist us in our planning for the upcoming school year. Please give serious thought to the questions in the survey and respond as soon as you are able. We appreciate your patience during this process and assure you that we are working tirelessly to provide the best education for your children. Comments (-1) American Academy of Pediatrics Guidance the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) released guidance for school re-entry. In this guidance, AAP firmly states, “the AAP strongly advocates that all policy considerations for the coming school year should start with a goal of having students physically present in school.” Comments (-1) Parent s Guide to Alabama s Roadmap to Reopening Schools The Alabama State Department of Education has released the Parent s Guide and the Roadmap to Reopening Schools. Dr. Eric Mackey, Alabama s State Superintendent of Education, addressed the state and released the Roadmap on June 26, 2020. Comments (-1) 2021 Senior Gear Up Survey ATTENTION 2021 SENIORS: Please complete the Scholar Centric resiliency survey at www.goclearpath.com for Gear Up. Follow the instructions below for a chance to win a $250 Amazon gift card. A pizza party will be given for all Seniors who participate once school begins. Comments (-1) Butler County School System Revised 2020-2021 Calendar The school calendar for 2020/2021 school year was revised and approved by the Butler County Board of Education at its regular meeting on May 21, 2020. Students will return to school on August 20, 2020. Please view the calendar by clicking on the Read More link. Comments (-1) BCSS Summer Feeding Program to begin June 8, 2020 The Butler County School System Child Nutrition Program is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge, ages 0-18 years. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all SFSP activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service. Meals will be provided at all the following sites starting June 8, 2020 until August 6, 2020: Greenville High School (11:00 to 12:00), Dunbar Park (11:00 am to 12:00 pm), Mt. Zion Baptist Church (11:00 pm to 12:15 pm), Butler Chapel Church and Greenwood meals will be given out on Monday and Thursday of each week (11:00 to 12:00) . Parents may drive through and pick up the meals for their children. Comments (-1) BCSS Continuing Education Packets It is the mission of Butler County Schools to continue to provide our students with content that will allow them to stay engaged in the learning process during the unprecedented absence caused by COVID-19. Continued education packets have been mailed to all students. Comments (-1) Butler County Academic Continuity Plan (BCACP) Approved and Implemented Butler County School System has implemented the first phase of the Butler County Academic Continuity Plan (BCACP) that will provide alternate methods of instruction to students. The plan has been approved by the State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Eric Mackey. Comments (-1) Annual Accountability Report As required by Alabama Act 95-313, the Butler County Board of Education is making Fiscal Year 2018-2019 accountability reports available to the media, parent organizations and legislators. The Financial Report, Student Achievement Report and the School Safety and Discipline Report (SIR) for the Butler County School System are available for review on the school system s website at www.butlerco.k12.al.us. Additional student achievement data is available on the Alabama State Department of Education s website at www.alsde.edu under AL Education Report Card, Supporting Data. Comments (-1)
