We're Changing the Face of Women in Tech

Philly Tech Sistas is an organization aimed at helping women of color gain technical and professional skills in order to work, thrive, and move up in the tech industry. We do this by providing intro to programming workshops and professional development events that build leadership, confidence and community. Our vision is to partner with tech companies throughout the Philadelphia area and beyond to help bridge the diversity, equity and inclusion gap by providing a greater pipeline of diverse talent.

Sisters learning code

Monthly intro to programming series where no programming experience required. These sessions provide the basics of how websites are built, from HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and more. This series will also incorporate learning about version control using GitHub and how to collaborate with other developers. Upon completion of this series, attendees will walk away with the ultimate developer toolkit.

Thrive up! Speaker series

Speaker series that focuses on career development and leadership skill-building. We discuss anything from using storytelling to brand yourself, negotiation, optimizing your LinkedIn profile, to how to deal with micro-aggressions at work. Leadership skills are essential to growing and thriving at work. If you are looking for ways to move up in your career by learning essential leadership skills and methodologies this series is for you.

Semianual mother/daughter coding workshops powered by TechGirlz TechShopz In a Box . Each one teach one! Along with empowering adult women in learning technology skills, we definitely don’t want to forget about our young girls. TechGirlz resources provide curriculum from web development to gaming. One thing’s for sure is there will be lots of fun!

Women in Tech Brunch

A seat at the table isn’t often enough. Studies show that women in tech face a number of barriers in the workforce and on their way to the C-suite. This is especially true for women of color. Join us for our annual fundraiser, an interactive brunch, and panel discussion where we hear from top industry leaders, tech companies, and local students in STEM on how we change the status quo and make more room at the table for everyone.
