This is Iron DogThe Iron Dog is the World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race and covers more than 2,600 miles as it traverses the Alaskan backcountry. Starting in Big Lake racers speed across the Alaska Range to the Yukon River and cut overland toward the Bering Sea coast before reaching the halfway point in Nome. Racers then turn toward Kotzebue then south to finish back in Big Lake. Participants cover some of Alaska’s most remote and rugged terrain while confronting harsh winter conditions. It just wouldn’t be iron Dog unless there were some obstacles to overcome…and this year the obstacles are unique and more challenging than ever. It’s going to take all of us to make this work. Iron Dog is all over the map this year. The latest to register for the 2021 Iron Dog is Seth Kroenke of Shawano, Wisconsin. The Expedition Class rider joins 12 others who collect their mail outside of Alaska. Three more Pro Class teams and an additional Expedition Class rider signed up today to bring the total number of Iron Dog 2021 racers and riders to 53. Looks like the Expedition Class is going to fill up every checkpoint they roll into. Another two Expedition riders signed up today to bring the total number of Iron Dog 2021 racers and riders to 46. The men from Manitoba are back for Iron Dog 2021. Team 37’s Mark Fosty and Ben Hildebrand rounded out the top-15 seed today for the World’s Longest, Toughest Snowmobile Race. Thirteen Pro Class teams and 11 Expedition Class riders have signed up for the 2021 Iron Dog snowmachine race. Registration for the backcountry endurance race is open until Oct. 31. The loop has always had board support, and now it has even more support as sponsors start to get behind the region – and most notably, the enthusiastic fans – from Buckland, Selawik, Kiana, Noorvik and Kotzebue. Supporters were out at all hours of the night cheering on our teams last year, and we are looking forward to hearing even more noise from those fine fans in 2021. Hello Race Fans!
