Self-Governance authorities provide Tribal nations the option to redefine their relationship with several Federal agencies. After negotiating Self-Governance agreements, Tribal governments assert their inherent right to self-rule by assuming control and decision-making authority over federal programs and resources that serve their citizens and communities.
