Joint message of The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia and the UNDP in Serbia to the Government of Serbia on Climate Change

In the aftermath of the 2019 UN Climate Summit, which garnered momentous pledges by governments and the private sector to cut greenhouse gas emissions to net-zero by 2050, theEuropean UnionDelegation to Serbia and theUnited Nations Development Programme(UNDP) kindly request the support of the Republic of Serbia in reducing the emission of greenhouse gases (GHGs) and encourage the adaptation of Serbian society and economy to the imminent impact of climate change.

COVID-19 Socio-Economic Impact Assessment

This assessment provides an in-depth overview of the impact of COVID-19 on key economic and human development perspectives: health, social protection and provision of basic services, jobs and the economy, macroeconomic stability, community cohesion, governance and resilience, and the environment. It is framed around the UN Secretary-General’s framework for an immediate socio-economic response to COVID-19; it promotes more sustainable development and an opportunity to build forward better in the aftermath of the crisis, with an end goal of accelerating achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (the “Agenda 2030”).

Guidelines on Media Reporting on Violence against Women

The guidelines are a result of several months’ analyses and discussions of the group Journalists against Violence against Women, comprising about thirty journalists from national and local media, which was formed thanks to UNDP Serbia and the B92 Fund. Through talks and sharing experiences – both within the group and with peers with whom group members met, as well as by monitoring the media situation and reporting on the social issue of violence against women, we identified a personal, professional and social need for a document of this kind.

What we do

UNDP is the UN's global development network, an organization advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in some 170 countries and territories, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. As they develop local capacity, they draw on the peoplea of UNDP and our wide range of partners.

Our objectives are outlined in the Country Programme Document (CPD 2016-2020), rooted in the overarching goals of the United Nations Development Partnership Framework, which centers the work of the entire UN Country Team in Serbia on supporting Serbia to achieve goals in the areas of: Governance and Rule of Law, Social and Human Resources Development, Economic Development, Growth, and Employment, Environment, Climate Change and Resilient Communities and Culture and Development.
