StageWorks is the theatre workshop that helps you develop your performing skills, whether you re into acting, singing, dancing or all three. Our Saturday morning sessions are great fun and you’ll make loads of new friends along the way. And if you re new to the wonderful world of theatre you re in for a treat. The bug will bite and you ll never be the same again. What are you waiting for?For ages 7-10 and 11 plus, whatever your ability or experience. As part of the StageWorks family you ll have a lot of fun working with everyone to create something special. You ll learn about singing, dancing and acting (in groups, usually, but you can have one-to-one help too, if you like) as well as trying your hand at backstage crafts sometimes.You don t need to know anything about stage or performance work before you join. However, to get the most out of every session you will need lots of energy, stamina, enthusiasm and the ability to concentrate. StageWorks was set up in 2003, to introduce young people just like you to the delights of musical theatre. We are happy to welcome students from across the London Borough of Hillingdon and further afield, for our regular Saturday sessions and for our annual Summer School too. At StageWorks, we want you to feel confident enough to try new things, develop new skills and have a lot of fun, supported by your friends and helped by experienced instructors and ROS volunteers who love being on or around the stage. Important info for those who pay the bills and get you to the sessions; ROS StageWorks meets on Saturday mornings during term time, including half term dates, at Douay Martyrs School, Edinburgh Drive, Ickenham. The junior group meets from 9.15 am to 10.45 am; the senior group from 11.15am to 12.45pm. Each term runs for a period of 11 weeks at a cost of £75, payable per term in advance.We operate an equal opportunity policy and consider all applications, dependent on availability of places; previous experience or known skills are not essential. ROS StageWorks is a registered activity of Ruislip Operatic Society. The autumn 2019 term starts on 21st September and runs to 30th November.Remember no break for half term! Our two workshops, held on 11th and 18th August, were great fun for everyone involved. We re delighted to say that a lot of new students signed up and we re looking forward to welcoming them at the start of term, Saturday September 15th. But don t worry, we still have some spaces left in the juniors group, so if you d like to join us, get in touch and let s have a chat If you re coming to the workshop on Saturday, 18th August, come to the Edinburgh Drive site for Douay Martyrs School (the postcode is UB10 8QY). The workshop will start at 10am, so we d advise you to get there a little earlier than that, so you can have a chat with one of our team members and ask anything you like. We re running two FREE Saturday morning taster sessions on 11th and 18th August for anyone aged 7 to 17 who d like to see what ROS StageWorks is all about. Chaperoning is a rewarding activity for anyone who can give up a little of their time to watch over the students. Other helpers man the tuck shop and make tea for the volunteers. Have they been checked? All chaperones are required to have an up to date DBS disclosure. The society will make all necessary arrangements if a volunteer does not have the required disclosure. Singing Students learn to sing out confidently in large and small groups and have the opportunity to sing solo if they wish. Dancing Dancing is a key element of performance, encouraging movement, building strength and helping to boost confidence. Performing Performance is about singing, acting and dancing with confidence, a vital attribute in all aspects of life, not just on stage. Craft It takes a lot of work to stage any production a huge team effort. We run occasional craft sessions, where students make props or items of scenery for the end of term showcase production. It s a chance to see some of the things that happen behind the scenes to support the performers on stage.
