Two days and nights in Rotterdam’s art district around the Witte de Withstraat and beyond. In the most vibrant part of Rotterdam, both indoor and outdoor, Festival Magia is expanding it’s storytelling mission with more than just special music, adding art, talks and liveradio by Operator, screenings, a vinyl market and a night program to the party. TENT is an exhibition room for contemporary Rotterdam art. TENT addresses the significant and current developments in contemporary art through varied exhibitions, linking the art from the city to current affairs. The exhibition area is situated in a historic former school building on the Witte de Withstraat, Rotterdam’s ‘street of culture’. The building is shared with the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art.

Founded in 1990, Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art was conceived as an art house with a mission to present and discuss the work created today by visual artists and cultural makers, from here and afar. It organizes exhibitions, commissions art, publishes, and develops educational and collaborative initiatives. This non-profit institution has especially worked with artists, and engaged audiences, who are interested in posing challenging inquiries and articulations of our present. While its program considers the contemporary, it also regards how art has been created and experienced in the past, and it imagines the futures art can come to shape.

WORM’s Avantgardistic State is found in a building in the Boomgaardsstraat, a side street of the Witte de Withstraat in the centre of Rotterdam. From their ‘bastion’ they recruit and train (new and old) likeminded souls, produce and realise publications and organise public events with all kinds of artists.

V2_, Lab for the Unstable Media is an interdisciplinary center for art and media technology in Rotterdam (the Netherlands). V2_ presents, produces, archives and publishes research at the interface of art, technology and society. Founded in 1981, V2_ offers a platform for artists, designers, scientists, researchers, theorists, and developers of software and hardware from various disciplines to discuss their work and share their findings.

The area is sometimes unofficially referred to as the art district, and is our home for two days this year! On the William Boothlaan, you will find our main live stage.

Since last year, this gallery space of Witte de With has been used as a site for displays and events. It also functions as bookshop and classroom. These developments on site developed in connection with an initiative on collective learning, which, among other things, entails a work/study program designed for Rotterdam youth.
