DMV has begun to reschedule regular appointments, but DMV is now scheduling behind the wheel drive test. To accommodate our existing students who have been rescheduled by DMV, lessons for those with a rescheduled DMV drive test will begin.​Existing ARS Driving School StudentsIf your permit expired, it is automatically extended for 6 months, nothing for you to do accept keep practicing your driving techniques. You do not need to contact DMV. It is an automatic extension. Law enforcement is aware as well. Please note DMV extended permits for 6 months for several reasons. One reason included the understanding that Driving School are not open even though DMV has re-opened. DMV is working around being in a car for up to 15 minutes on a drive test. Driving School Instructors are in a different situation in that the Driving Instructor has to be in a car with a person learning to drive for 2 hours. Social Distancing is an issue.​If you had a drive test cancelled by DMV, they are text messaging you directly with a new date and time. If that date and time does not work, unfortunately you cannot call DMV and they reschedule it. Due to the volume of reschedules they have to get through, if you can t make it to the one they gave you, you will have to wait until DMVopens up new appointments to the public. This is when you would be able to reschedule a new drive test. Currently DMV anticipates opening new appointments to the public at the end of the summer.​Our lesson timesare 9a, 12p and 3p. We will blanketly place students in any of those lesson timessince we are are summer break. Lessons for all other remaining existing students who do not have a driving test scheduled with DMV, lessons with us will resumewhen Santa Clara County releases Driving Schools to resume operations as a business. Stay safe!​New StudentsYou can revisit our website on July 26th and registerfor lessons with our school. In the meantime,we have deactivated our register button below until July 26th.​For those who are ready to take a written permit test to obtain alearner s permit, currently the only way you can do this is by applying for a REAL ID. When applying for a REAL ID for the first time, as part of that application, DMV will allow you to take a written learner s permit exam as part of the REAL ID process. If you already have a REAL ID, at this time, DMV will not let you take the written learner s permit exam. You will have to wait until DMV begins scheduling those appointments again.Ready to learn how to drive?
