Chocolate Cab is the cab in which you can win chocolate for correct answers to questions while riding to your destination!

Chocolate Cab is operated by Mark the Cab Driver in and around Gainesville, Florida, the heart of the Silicon Sandbar, the fast-emerging technology center of the southeast United States.

Mark formulates questions from useful and entertaining information that he finds in the media, on the Internet, in books, on DVDs and that he finds and that he receives from friends of Chocolate Cab.

Fares for Chocolate Cab passengers are generally the same as those charged to passengers of most of the cab companies in Gainesville. Mark asks that passengers tip him commensurate with the quality of his service to them and with the info-choco-tainment value of their participation in Chocolate Cab Quiz.

Don't worry, if you answer all questions incorrectly, Mark does not eject you from Chocolate Cab. To the contrary, he gives to you a piece of chocolate anyway. :)

Unfortunately,
Chocolate Cab is not currently in service, but may be in service in the months ahead.

Chocolate Cab service is temporarily suspended until Mark the Cab Driver connects with a cab. See the article entitled, "Fired!," in the "News From Chocolate Cab" section in the right column below.

Mark is working on getting on the road again soon and looks forward to resuming delivering great Chocolate Cab info-choco-tainment! Check this site occasionally for private transportation news and for announcements concerning resumption of service. ;)

An update on Mark the Cab Driver's condition

Wednesday, December 10, 2014

Mark the Cab Driver, citizen journalist

Gainesville, Florida, U. S. A.--Mark the Cab Driver's health has been fairly stable. Some days he feels slightly stronger
than he had been feeling and his vision is slightly better than it had been; on other days he feels weaker and his vision is slightly worse than they had been previously. To become weak from over-exertion or from lack of sufficient sleep or good nutrition is easy under his current condition.

Since June, 2014, Mark has been hospitalized after having become very weak three times. Each time, hospital staff members and blood bank contractors gave him blood transfusions and replaced his thick and sticky blood plasma with thin and slippery, sterilized, donated plasma. Each time he received those treatments, he has felt normal in strength, though his vision hss improved little.

Fortunately, doctors' working diagnosis of Mark's condition has changed from the aggressive form of bone marrow cancer, multiple myeloma, to the less aggressive form of bone marrow cancer, Wardenstrom's macroglobulinemia. "While it is a less aggressive form of cancer than doctors had originally thought, it is still a cancer, so overcoming it will take great, sustained effort," Mark said.

Mark has been gradually improving his intake of cancer-fighting foods, beverages and herbs, his intake of nutrition supplements and his intake of nutraceuticals (isolated and concentrated nutrients that have therapeutic effects far in excess of the effects that the normal concentrations of those nutrients found in nature).

Despite hematologists (blood doctors) and oncologists (cancer doctors) repeated, unethical, minimally informative consultations and stern coercing of Mark to undergo a bone marrow biopsy and chemotherapy, Mark remains determined to treat his condition with the many safe and effective, wholistic (best available from all healing arts) modalities.
Mark welcomes suggestions for safe and effective remedies and remedies and treatments for cancer. Since he rarelyly has time to check his e-mail in his Chocolate CAb e-mail account, until he regains his normal vision and strength, he welcomes e-mail messages that people may send to his personal e-mail address at Mark.Venzke@gmail.com.

Mark is close to improving his living accommodations to allow him to self-treat his condition much better than he has been self-treating his condition.

"I really appreciate all of the prayers, visualizations and intentions of Chocolate Cab fans and all of my friends, acquaintances and strangers here, in the Gainesville area and beyond," Mark said. "Scientific studies have proven that payers, visualizations and intentions measurably and sometimes greatly improve health outcomes for sick and injured people--regardless of the faiths or philosophies of the stricken person and the spiritually intervening person and regardless of whether the stricken person knows that someone would have spiritually intervened for him," Mark continued.

"Thank you, everyone, and have a happy holiday season," Mark concluded.

Doctors have diagnosed Mark the Cab Driver with cancer
Help provide him with accommodations to convalesce

Gainesville, Florida, U. S. A.--
After having become progressively weaker over many months, Mark the Cab Driver entered North Florida Regional Medical Center on June 21, 2014. During a four-day stay, doctors tentatively concluded that Mark had multiple myeloma, a form of bone marrow cancer. Mark declined a bone marrow biopsy that would have been able to conclusively indicate whether he had the disease.

Mark has chosen to employ wholistic health care practices to overcome his cancer.
He has been learning of many safe and effective wholistic lifestyle modes, diets, remedies and treatments from the Internet and through friends and acquaintances that he has been unable to fully implement because he has been lacking the means to do so. The demands of trying to pay for those wholistic measures have made maintaining healthy accommodations challenging.

MUSIC AND CAB HUMOR VIDEOS

This site offers earthy, from-the-streets inspiration and entertainment in music videos and in cab humor. Following are some recent postings. For additional postings, see the "entertainment" section.

Hey, submit your own videos for possible posting!

Enjoy!

Straight from the New York subway with a battery-powered amplifier slung around his neck, this young man known as Guitaro 5000 is an amazingly accomplished funk guitarist. He uses a percussion plate on the face of his guitar that he fashioned from the top of a sardine can that sounds good. He has his own YouTube channel with many music videos posted there. Listen to this session that includes Michael Jackson's song, "Black or White."

Following are several outdoor piano performances from around the world. The levels of musicianship are impressive.

Listening to these videos makes one want to arrange to have a piano situated in a high-pedestrian-traffic area of one's home town during good weather.

Hmmm....direct leaders of your downtown business association or your local chamber of commerce to this site so they can see the great music making that is occurring in other cities to suggest to them to start emplacing a piano in your downtown on sunny days.

In this video, a homeless man plays a piano near the shore of Venice Beach in California of the United States Of America. Regardless of some off-tempo passages and a few muffed notes, his extended variations and improvisations are wonderful.

Someone in Venice Beach, hire this guy to play in your restaurant, hotel or inn!

This young man named Sylvan unleashed some boogie woogie music on this piano in busy and famous Times Square in New York City in the United States. Northeast Texas appears to be the place of origin of boogie woogie music. While research has not identified an originator of the genre, to listen to music like this makes one glad that someone originated it.

Your foot or legs will be bouncing. Don't fight it. Get up and dance!
Yea!

You can learn about boogie woogie music here:

http://en.Wikipedia.org/wiki/Boogie-woogie

This pianist, Henri Herbert, of the band, Jim Jones Review, "tears up" this piano with some boogie woogie music in a busy train station in London, England.

Were you thinking Jerry Lee Lewis after seeing those last, two videos? Well, here is a fantastically animated rendition of his boogie woogie hit classic, Great Balls Of Fire by seventeen-year-old Jacob Tolliver. Jacob's hands become blllurrrrrs. This is not an outdoors performance, but it is hot boogie that almost "burns down the house." This video is a short, fast "ride," so hold on to your seat!

One Love! One Heart!

Here is a music video of the reggae song, "One Love! One Heart!" by Bob Marley, from streets around the world.

As sound recording technicians from the organization, Playing For Change (http://www.PlayingForChange.org), have done for many songs since 2005, they captured the playing and singing of musicians and singers in many countries performing this song and mixed them into a wonderful arrangement of worldwide flavors. "...[A]lthough the musicians were never in the same roomor even the same country or continentthey were unified through music with each contributing her or his distinct gifts to the whole," the "about" page of the site reads.

The mission of Playing For Change is to "...create positive change through music and arts education. (http://www.PlayingForChange.org/mission) The organizationraisesmoney to pay for music programs and to buy musical instruments for young people throughout the world, and, of course, it continues to produce beautiful and inspiring songs by musicians and singers from around the world who testify and unify through their music.

Go on, sing with them! The lyrics are below the following video window. Many variations of lyrics for this song are available on the Internet. The ones below follow the following recording (except for the ones that are in an African language).

Hey, "mon," do not be shy. Get the folks around you to sing with you. While playing the following video with on smart device, record your songfest with another smart device. Then, send the digital file for your music video to me, so I could post it here. Bring the music from your streets to the Chocolate Cab Internet site and to the world!

Enjoy, "mon!"

One Love! One Heart!
Let's get together and feel all right.

As it was in the beginning here,
So shall it be in the end there.
Let's get together and feel all right.
musical interlude

Let them all pass all their dirty remarks. (One love!)
There is one question I'd really love to ask: (One heart!)
Is there a place for the hopeless sinner
Who has hurt all mankind just to save his own beliefs?(Believe me!)

One love! (One heart!) One heart!
Let's get together and feel all right. (I want to feel alright!)
One love! One heart!
Let's get together and feel all right. (Come on!)

Let's get together and feel all right.

As it was in the beginning,
So shall it be in the end.

One love! (One heart!) One heart!
Let's get together and feel all right. (I want to feel alright!)

One love! One heart!
Let's get together and feel all right. (Come on!)
Let's get together and feel all right.

Let's join together to fight this Holy Armageddon.
When the Man comes, there will be no, no doom.
Have pity on those whose chances grow thinner.
There ain't no hiding place from the Father of Creation.

(Ya got 'em!)
One Love! One heart! (Yeah, lets!)
Let's get together and feel all right.
One love! One heart!
Let's get together and feel all right.

A joyful song in the hearts of loving souls is irrepressible!

Listen to this exhilarating,
impromptu rendition of the introduction of the song, "The Circle Of Life," by members of the cast of the Australian stage production of The Lion King.

In this video, they broke into song while awaiting takeoff. Their effort has rich, full harmony delivered in full, concert-hall volume in the confines of a commercial passenger jet cabin.

The YouTube page for this hyper-virally spread video showed that more than four million people viewed it in only one day!

To see the type of production in which these young people perform when in full costume, view the following video of an elaborate stage production of the a full performance of the same song by the London cast.If you have an urge to sing along with the singers above, go for it!

The Circle Of Life

lyrics by Tim Rice, music by Elton John

[MS: Male Singer]
[BS: Background Singer]
[FS: Female Singer (lead)]

introduction
[MS:] Nants ingonyama bagithi baba [There comes a lion]
[BS:] Sithi uhhmm ingonyama [Oh yes, it's a lion]
[MS:] Nants ingonyama bagithi baba [There comes a lion]
[BS:] Sithi uhhmm ingonyama [Oh yes, it's a lion]
Ingonyama
[MS:] Siyo Nqoba [We're going to conquer]
[BS:] Ingonyama
Ingonyama nengw' enamabaal [It's a lion and a tiger]
[repeats 5]
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Se-to-kwa!)
Ingonyama nengw' enamabala (Asana)
[repeats 1]

[FS:] From the day we arrive on the planet
And, blinking, step into the sun,
There's more to be seen than could ever be seen,
More to do than could ever be done.

Some say eat or be eaten;
Some say live and let live,
But all are agreed as they join the stampede
You should never take more than you give.

The Circle of Life
Is the wheel of fortune.
In the leap of faith,
It's the band of hope
'Til we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle,
The Circle of Life!

There's far too much to take in here,
More to find than can ever be found,
But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round.

It's the Circle of Life!
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope,
Through faith and love
'Til we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle,
The Circle of Life.

Some of us fall to the wayside;
Some of us soar to the stars,
And some of us sail through our troubles,
And some have to live with the scars.

There's far too much to take in here,
More to find than could ever be found,
But the sun rolling high through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round.

[FS:] The Circle of Life
Is the wheel of fortune.
In the leap of faith,
It's the band of hope
'Til we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle,
The Circle of Life!

Is the wheel of fortune.
In the leap of faith,
It's the band of hope
'Til we find our place
On the path unwinding
In the Circle,
The Circle of Life!

On the path unwinding
In the Circle,
The Circle of Life!

PUBLIC HEALTH WARNING

A toxic form of synthetic marijuana commonly known as "spice" is circulating in Gainesville

Local hospitals
have admitted eleven during the last, two days

Saturday, May 31, 2014

Mark the Cab Driver, citizen journalist

Gainesville, Florida, U. S. A.--Local hospitals have admitted eleven people over the past two days after they have used the synthetic marijuana substitute known on the street as "spice."

Authorities know the as-yet-legal marijuana substitute to often contain toxic constituents.

"Be safe. Subject your body to nothing harmful or potentially harmful," Mark the Cab Driver said. "The use of illicit substances--especially "hard" illicit substances is stupid," Mark said. "Preserve your physical and mental health and capabilities. Get 'high' on life and good times without the use of harmful, mind- and body-altering agents," Mark concluded.

The rules of Chocolate Cab have always prohibited the possession and use of illicit substances in the cab and the use of Chocolate Cab for illicit activities, including drug dealing.

Scranton, Pennsylvania, U. S. A.--An eighteen-year-old gang member recently released from prison and now under investigation again for a previous triple murder, Aazis Richardson, shot Scranton, Pennsylvania cab driver, Vincent Darbenzio, twice in the head on this past Friday, May 23, 2014.

Richardson told reporters that he shot the cab driver because Richardson thought the driver was taking an unnecessarily long route to increase the fare for the ride. Richardson demanded that the driver pull the cab to the curb and shot him twice in the head. Before leaving the scene of the murder, Richardson stole $500 from the pocket of Darbenzio.

"I just told him take this way, he didnt want to listen, he got his [expletive] shot, Richardson told reporters.

When reporters asked Richardson why he shot Darbenzio twice, he answered, Cause thats what I do to people who dont listen."

When reporters asked Richardson about Darbenzio's family, Richardson said, "[expletive] them."

Richardson claimed that he is a member of the Boyton Boys set of the Bloods gang, and says that he was released from jail recently for being a suspect in a triple homicide in New Jersey.

Darbenzio's funeral will occur this afternoon.

Cab drivers everywhere mourn the loss of this, their fellow cab driver and ask the public for their prayers for Darbenzio's family and ask police and prosecutors to take clearly dangerous people off the streets before they kill.

The previous record number of visitors to the Chocolate Cab Internet site was smashed yesterday! 162 people visited!

An e-commerce
section is in development

Tuesday, May 6, 2014

Mark the Cab Drive, citizen journalist

Gainesville, Florida, U. S. A.--"I could see at midnight local time last night that we were going to hit a new record number of visitors by the tabulation time, midnight Pacific Time," Mark the Cab Driver said. "This morning, the visitor total on the control interface for the site read 162. This is fantastic!," Mark exclaimed.

Over the past weekend, Mark extensively re-composed the home page of the site to make it more inviting, more attractive and better organized. The flow of content on mobile devices is now much more logical than it was, he said.

"After my last election in early March, I expected site traffic to subside to the pre-campaign level, but it dipped only slightly and has recently been climbing." In recent weeks, the site has been getting about 3000 visitors per month, he said.

The recently increasing traffic has encouraged him to increase his efforts to establish the long-planned e-commerce section for the site
.

"I am planning on offering great chocolate and travel-related products and services from environmentally and socially responsible producers and providers through the Chocolate Cab e-store," Mark said
. "Watch this page for the announcement of the launch," he concluded.

141 people visited the The Chocolate Cab Internet site in one day!

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

Mark the Cab Driver, citizen journalist

Gainesville, Florida, U. S. A.--A record number of people from around the world--141--visited the Chocolate Cab Internet site on Thursday, April 3, 2014!

Additionally, since early March, the average number of site visitors has more than doubled to about seventy-five per day, rarely dipping below fifty visitors.

"The site traffic has been great!" Mark the Cab Driver said. "I especially want to greet all of the recent visitors from Brazil and Germany who have been visiting in large numbers."

"I have additional great, entertaining and inspiring content coming, so return to the site occasionally to enjoy it," Mark said.

Gainesville voters eliminated Mark the Cab driver as a candidate

Tuesday, March 11, 2014

Mark the Cab Driver
citizen journalist

Gainesville, Florida, U. S. A.--Today, Gainesville city election day in which three Gainesville City Commission seats were contested, voters eliminated Mark the Cab Driver and one other candidate, Donald Shepherd in the at large, seat two race.

Because voters gave no candidate a majority of the votes cast, the two candidates in the race with Mark who received the most votes, Annie Orlando and Helen Warren, will face each other in a runoff election on April 8.

"This, again, was a demanding race. At ten group candidate events--six fora, three meet and greets and a debate-- this was the most grueling of my three runs for office. My e-mail accounts and computer appear to have been repeatedly hacked. The only local daily newspaper engaged in some yellow journalism. Through all of it, some politically active and influential citizens remarked throughout the campaign that my performances in candidate fora and in the candidate debate were at times very strong. Their praise was not that emphatic in my past, two runs for seats on the city commission," Mark said.

"That Chris Curry, the local political reporter for the Gainesville Sun newspaper questioned Annie Orlando's and my residency one week before the election--even though I had very rarely and very briefly been outside Gainesville for many years before the election--was questionable. This was not surprising from a reporter and a newspaper that have historically favored the unresponsive Democrat political establishment and failed to either investigate and report most of the very serious and very costly irregularities of the biomass-produced electric contract or to even report the many, many very disturbing facts about it that citizens have presented before the city commission for several years. That same reporter in articles that his newspaper published months after the last two elections in which I ran cited the relatively small number of votes that I got in those elections in articles unrelated to election results--while never citing the number of votes that other candidates had received in articles in which he mentioned them--shows a disturbing pattern of bias against me. Still, that voters cast almost twice as many votes for me in this election as they did in my past two elections is noteworthy," he continued.

"Unlike past campaigns, many opinion leaders waited until the last two weeks of the campaign to make their endorsements. I suspect that was because they were undecided between Annie Orlando and me," he said. "I sensed that late in the campaign many voters decided to vote for one of the two perceived front runners even though many of the voters regarded me as a
better choice than either or an equal or nearly equal choice to one of them," Mark said.

"At this time, I recommend that voters vote for Annie Orlando in the runoff election," Mark said.

Mark concluded: "Regardless of the outcome of the election, I am "...Feeling stronger every day...," and I know that this is "...Only the beginning / Only just the start..."
