READ THRIVE Proficient reading by 3rd grade is the #1 predictor of high school and career success. But 80% of low-income 3rd graders aren’t proficient readers.

In East Contra Costa County, we’re changing that. HERE’S HOW FAMILIES WHO
LEAD THRIVE Every parent knows that kids thrive when moms and dads are advocates for them. But low-income parents attend half the number of school events. Non-English-speaking parentsare far less likely to participate in parent-teacher conferences or school meetings.

At VCRC, we’re changing that. Our Family Leadership programs help East County families learn English, navigate school handle immigration issues, and plan financially. Empowered families direct their own futures. That’s why we’re working each day to empower our community’s families in new ways. HERE’S HOW United Latin Voices Monthly Meeting


VCRC's community is mourning the tremendous loss of lives of our brothers and sisters in Uvalde, Texas.

No child should have to witness the terror which took place yesterday. No parent should have to worry about

the safety of our schools. We mourn the graduations that will never take place, the quiet homes where once

there was children's laughter, the senseless loss of life and light. Let this be a time when we come together in

the midst of our differences, to be bridges for our children.
