Editors: Richard Middleton and Ian Biddle Current Co-ordinating Editors: Nanette de Jong and Ian Biddle ISSN 1751-7788 is a peer-reviewed online journal produced in the International Centre for Music Studies at Newcastle University (UK). It was established to provide a forum for progressive thinking across the whole field of musical studies, and encourages work that draws on any and all relevant disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspectives. The journal espouses no particular theoretical line, ideology or programme. However, responding to a perception that the projects going under the names of 'new' and 'critical' musicology have been succeeded by a certain disciplinary retrenchment or even counter-reaction, we aim to encourage work which explicitly or implicitly interrogates existing paradigms, and which acknowledges that musicological work will always have a political dimension. The politics we favour might be summarised as a desire to democratise the field of the permissible. Radical Musicology is published in annual volumes, with new content added continuously when available. As well as major academic articles, it includes essay-reviews of particularly significant books, recordings and concerts, and, in the interests of furthering dialogue, also welcomes thoughtful responses to articles. Volume 7 has now been published. We are now considering contributions for Volumes 8 and 9.
