The Skating Rink at Kahler Glen will be closed this winter due to Covid-19.  We all hope it can reopen next winter. XC skiing and Snowshoeing trails are open at Kahler Glen.  A groomed snow park pass is required.  Parking is available at the Nason Ridge XC parking lot across from the driving range or at the State Park.  NO PARKING on the roads in Kahler Glen, and NO SLEDDING.   Sledding is available in the South Lake Wenatchee State Park.Time to pick up your Sno Park Pass for XC Skiing at Lake Wenatchee State Park, See and Ski, Kathler Glen Golf Course and Nason Ridge.  Passes are available at the Midway and Plain Hardware  The groomers were out today.  The snow will be soft with the rain that is expected over the next few days, but historically XC skiing is good between Christmas and New Years.  Daily Grooming reports are available here.The Team at Plain Hardware have most of their trails groomed for classic and skate skiing.  Daily or Season Passes are available at the Plain Hardware.  There is good snow on the Plain trails, open terrain and it is colder away from the lake.  Daily grooming reports for Plain Valley Ski Trails are here.Plain Valley Ski Trails are a non-profit to support the youth of the Plain Valley Nordic Team (PVNT).  PVNT is a community supported year-round training program that seeks to have fun with friends while developing skiing skills, strength and conditioning. Our team culture supports the success of the team and our teammates by being inclusive and kind. The Chelan-Douglas Health District will provide free drive-through Covid-19 testing at the Beaver Valley School in Plain this Saturday, December 19th, from 10AM to 4:30 PM.  The school  is next to the fire station at the junction of Beaver Valley Road and River Road.  No appointment is necessary and results can take 3 to 6 days. On December 8th the Chelan County Commissioners completed their last study/work session on the draft proposal for regulation of short-term/vacation rentals. The project was delayed due to unusually high water which has now receded.  The work will require intermittent, one-lane closures of eastbound Highway 2. November.Chelan PUD will temporarily divert the river to allow crews to reinforce and stabilize the entrance of the fishway with concrete. Fish passage will be maintained during most of the $370,000 project. The PUD estimates restoration of power about 10PM tonight .UPDATE:  Power was restored to the North Shore area about 11:30 PM and to the South Shore area at 2:30 AM.This has been a tough year for our fire department as it has been for so many in different ways.
