Class sizes

Maximum enrollment will be 12 children per class for the 3 year old program and 15 children per class for the 4 year old program. (Classes may be cancelled, combined or re-organized if registration does not meet minimum or exceeds maximum requirements. This decision will be made by the Teacher and the Board.)

Days and Times of Operation

REFENS will operate from September to June inclusively. We follow the school calendar established by the RETSD School Board and therefore will be closed for Christmas Break, Spring Break and all statutory holidays. On some divisional and provincial in-service days, we do not have access to the classroom by decree of the River East Transcona School Board.

Arrival and Departure

All children are to be brought into and picked up from our classroom by their parent or designated escort at the appropriate times. Children must not be left unattended in the foyer, hallway or classroom at any time.

Please inform the teacher in advance if there is to be someone new dropping off or picking up your child. REFENS assumes responsibility for the child when the child is in the classroom and signed into the attendance log.

Bonjour! I have been lucky enough to be with River East French Exposure Nursery School since September of 1994. I love coming to our class and watching children enjoy learning, making new friends and having amazing experiences!

Our class is a place where kids learn what it is like to be part of a class. We learn how to be respectful and kind, how to responsible and creative, how to be helpful and caring all while learning and having fun!

I have learned over the years that the children will rise to your expectations if you give them the tools and the time they need to succeed. Each student who comes through our program will enter Kindergarten with the knowledge and the self -confidence they need to succeed in their next adventure.

You can teach children a lesson for a day; but if you can teach them to learn by creating curiosity, they will continue the learning process as long as they live.

Get the link to “General Registration Night” from the registration form or scroll down this page to "REFENS Teams Virtual Meetings" Click on "Join Teams General Registration" to be admitted to the waiting room. Based on your "spot registration number" you will be let into the teams meeting from the waiting room 1 at a time to register your child. Once your child's registration has been confirmed during the registration meeting, you will be asked to complete the following by Mar 9/21 @ 9pm to secure your child's spot. Complete the fillable PDF "registration package" and the "background check package" on your computer and email the completed "registration package" and the "background check package" to This email address is being protected from spambots. How to join the AGM

Click on "Join Teams Annual General Meeting" and you will be let into the meeting

Original copies of background checks OR receipts for any family member that will be a class helper must be recieved by REFENS by the AGM.

You will be informed on how to fill out the helper calendar for your class, as well as, participate in nominations and voting for positions on the Board of Directors. If you are interested in being a Board Member please look through the parent handbook as it has information about each position.

Welcome to REFENS!

Our school has provided a gentle first step into our children's eduction for more than 40 years. REFENS was started by a group of local parents and remains a parent cooperative to this day.

Fundraising Events

REFENS is a non-profit organization therefore some of the money required to operate is acquired through fund raising events. Parents’ involvement in this area is essential to keeping our fees reasonable and allows us to cover the costs related to class outings throughout the year. New ideas and suggestions are always welcome.

Donations

Donations are always welcome! If you have toys, books, software, costumes/dress-up clothes and craft items (e.g. yarn, felt, fabric paint, etc.) that you no longer need, please check with the teacher to see if REFENS could put them to use.
