The institute’s work will positively impact not only manufacturing but also healthcare and education & workforce development for the nation.

BioFabUSA, a program of ARMI, is a public-private partnership with more than 170 members, including companies, academic institutions and not-for profit organizations. The mission of BioFabUSA is to bring together the fundamental tenets of good manufacturing processes and the science of regenerative medicine to create regenerative manufacturing and the trained and ready workforce necessary for that manufacturing.

Union Leader: Millyard lab will be used to manufacture human tissue for clinical trials

It’s been nearly five years since Dean Kamen announced the launch of BioFabUSA, a program of the Advanced Regenerative Manufacturing Institute to jump-start the large-scale production of synthetic human tissue. Under the direction of Chief Technology Officer Tom Bollenbach, BioFabUSA has created a “tissue foundry” as a working prototype to manufacture cells, which increases the rate needed to produce them for early clinical trials.
