During lockdown over 150 students have continued to enjoy their weekly music lessons online, via Microsoft Teams. Congratulations to a number of students were successful in the online version of the annual Sevenoaks Three Arts Festival. Congratulations to Elizabeth in Year 11 who has won a prestigious creative writing competition. A walk around Tonbridge Grammar School always provides a flavour of the rich tapestry of learning that is happening in the classrooms. From the work proudly displayed on notice boards, to sculptures and paintings in the reception area, music floating from practice rooms and colourful costumes displayed outside the textiles classroom.Students also enjoy the opportunity to share their learning with each other during lessons.We look forward to being able to share work in this way again. In the meantime this ‘virtual display board’ allows us to celebrate the learning that is happening in our virtual school. Congratulations to students in years 7, 11 and 12 who were successful in a variety of language competitions this year. The competitions included creating calligrams, debating the influence of social media and writing ‘flash fiction’. Over the course of this academic year, students have enjoyed and been inspired by visits from alumni as part of the ‘Languages at University Programme’.Bringing together alumni, school supporters (including professionals and businesses) and parents our online community TGS Connections was created to grow and sustain life-long associations with Tonbridge Grammar School.It provides the opportunity to share news, network, search for/advertise job opportunities, seek help with interview preparation, locate a mentor/become a mentor, find out about the latest reunions and events and join interest-specific societies.
