It is presented in a four year chronological rotation, integrating all areas of study to create a clear picture of the history of our world.Redevelopment RestructureWe began developing the LIFE School program in 1998. At the time, the key developers were Patti R. Landes, a lifelong educator and author, and Elaine A. Cannon, former Young Women s General President of the Church. Over the years our curriculum team has changed and grown, yet we have continued our pursuit of the best learning models from around the world. Consider the Academy.Many years ago, when we first began writing the LIFE School curriculum, the research and writing process created new opportunities for learning and discovery for the authors, as well as the students. One thing we learned during the prayerful and creative process is that the Savior had a consistent way of teaching. His methods always included key effective methods of teaching so that His listeners would not only understand His words, but would feel His words, their hearts would be permeated, and they would feel deep burning desire to change to become His disciple.We called this method Educating Children the Lord s Way .As we applied these methods in our homes and in classrooms, children began to bear testimony and resolve and commit to living better lives. The principles are true.Last Fall, as I was perusing the newest issue of the Ensign, I was overcome with excitement when I discovered the new program recently created for the youth of the Church Teaching the Gospel in the Savior s Way. The words are slightly different than our own simple phrase, but as I read through the concepts, they were the same eternal truths.The Church has created some inspiring instructional videos that make clear, the way we should be teaching our own children.We invite you to watch this first one.Come, Follow Me: Teaching the Savior s WayPrepare To TeachThe Savior knows what your children need to hear and Learn. Study and ponder the lesson material. Highlight those concepts you feel inspired to share with them. Pray for the Spirit to be present in your homeschool so that your child s capacity to learn will be increased. Change your lesson direction as dictated or impressed by the Spirit.Help Children DiscoverWhen teaching your children, don t lecture. Ask questions. Listen. Encourage them to talk. Be a facilitator or a guide to help them actively learn. Help them to discover principles and concepts for themselves.Invite Them To ActAs your children learn, invite them to act on what they have learned. This is especially applicable to gospel principle but can be applied to every aspect of their learning. Encourage them to testify of the things they learn.Allow Them To Teach Tell me and I ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I ll understand. This famous quote illustrates perfectly, the concept of teaching. Involve your children in the teaching process. Give them opportunities to prepare and share lessons with family members. Encourage them to lead uplifting discussions that will draw out feelings and share knowledge.Show Them You Love Them They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Love is the key. Demonstrate your love for your children often during your teaching. Be patient. Listen with love and respect. Develop feelings of respect and love in your home. Where love is, there God is also. Where love is we want to be.
