Oakland University is committed to taking all measures within its power to protect those on our campus from this public health threat. As the COVID-19 crisis continues, Oakland University has launched a grassroots effort to document the experiences of people in Southeast Michigan. People can submit photos, written journals, flyers, video and audio files, screenshots, and other materials through a simple online form. On June 15, the Oakland University Board of Trustees approved a $270,013,650 general fund budget, which includes a zero percent tuition increase for the fall 2020 semester. Without the usual bustle of students, faculty and staff, Oakland University’s campus may appear unusually quiet these days. But for birding enthusiasts like Chandler Mancuso, the campus’s 1,400-plus acres are alive with the sights and sounds of nature. The Oakland Center at Oakland University is reopening to the campus community on a limited basis beginning June 10. The current hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. However, there will be no access to food services, the Barnes & Noble at Oakland University bookstore or Oakland University Credit Union services at this time. For the fourth consecutive year, Oakland University received a gold ranking, the highest possible rating for veteran-friendliness from the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency (MVAA). The estate includes the National Historic Landmark Meadow Brook Hall, which Matilda built with her second husband Alfred Wilson from 1926-29. Matilda was inspired by steel pioneer and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, quoting him that she wanted to provide "ladders upon which the aspiring can rise." 3,000 students who live in on-campus housing (19% of student population) Oakland University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
