Happy New Year

Greetings to you, (you, you, you, you.) thats an echo-GET IT? Cause its cavernously empty round these parts! These parts meaning those who peruse this website. ANYWAY

Day 1 Still tired from the move.
Thats a Steven Wright line I use it a lot when I consider a chronicling of any nature. And Im compelled at least at this moment to at least nod to a chronicling, because things have been a little different for me in this latest year.
Ive begin the process towards returning to myself a smile.
To aid and abet this process, most every one of my lifestyle choices to-date nicotine, caffeine, cannabinoids have been 100% curtailed. (Well, I have one or two normal cups of coffee every now and again, but the coffee intake is nowhere NEAR the constant consumption that it had been for so long.)
Well see how it goes.
Still wondering whether anyone I know ever reads this site. I dont think so. I wonder who I write to, then? Out to the interwebs? Or will it only be reviewed upon my death? Whos to say?
But meanwhilemiles to go before I sleep.

WE DONT GET IT.

Why on Earth are the worlds ALREADY WEALTHIEST seeming only to continue the smash n grab of everything with an effort only to amass MORE?

And if you are not among the movers and shakers, you are reduced now only to a cost to be minimized at the expense of shareholder profit across the board.

Jobs. If you had to boil down all the crap that gets fed to the citizenry in terms of what the oligarchy is giving TO us allits jobs.

Hey weve already GOT jobs. Weve got a bunch of em, actually and weve got all those other jobs that you dont even see. But why are you making everything so much worse and harder for everyone? It is SELF-EVIDENT how little regard the average citizen is given?

How about a job that pays better? How about health care that doesnt bankrupt us if we fracture an ulna? (Exaggerated to make a point a fractured ulna, by comparison, still sucks, but its also kind of dodging a bullet)

Education? Getting worse, going to cost us more, not even CLOSE to valued in this country, everything turning against the average citizenyet also somehow still paving the way for the best and the brightest to continue their breeding.

And hey, we all know Im just getting started. Our planet?  How is short-term greed somehow still carrying the day? What, is the real plan to build some variation of Elysium? (Watch the film apart from the little guy wins in the end part, I think its the most accurate dystopian representation out there so far. And with the little guy not winning at the end, I can tell you it isnt a great existence for the little guy in that scenario.)

Taxes, blahblahblah bullshit.

And Ill tell you another thing: you can take all the Trump impersonators out there, and throw em out. No one would be able to do Trump as well as the late James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano doing an impersonation of Donald Trump. He. Nails. It. Hands down. He wouldnt even have to change a thing.

Politics has become legislating to benefit campaign donors so they donate to the campaign so the politician can feed you a bunch of crap so you choose them so they can then continue to legislate for the big campaign donors.

And Im quite aware how this sounds so very cliche, the middle-aged guy ranting about the state of things.but I let myself keep going because I think a LOT of people who arent at ALL like me could EASILY be feeling the same way, IF NOT WORSE.

Take, for example, being an average teenager coming into this America. For most of them, this world is not really quite the way wed hoped it would for them, eh? Would that the United States continued to choose more towards investing in its citizenry..

Would that citizenry had a larger component of understood civic responsibility, one at least equivalent to the emphasis on individual freedoms.

Would that we could learn more about each other by reconnecting outside of media. We have the limitations, still, of living bodies and I believe much of our consternation has come from the ever-growing gap between the world of our brain and the world of our mind.

There is so, so, so much wrong in the world. Im part of it, part nature and part nurture grown, inward, vexed, cowardly Im a functioning sufferer and addict, able still but only continuing to fail against the very reasonable ideal, and thus augmenting

I see it in me, and project it out.

[I want to continue that thought, but Ive been also compelled to add something I feel should be said early, but the rhythm hasnt found its way there, so Im injecting: for everything I see as pointed against me as a citizen, I remind myself that, by comparison, I have it very, very easy after all, Im a middle-aged, lean, white, able, straight, Christian, smart-ish, childless, healthy-ish male born living in a semi-urban temperate zone on the United States East Coast(ish). That, dear reader, is running the board on the best demographic side to be on if you are a human on this planet. I aint bragging I had very little to do with it. My point is, that for all I see turning against me, I have the easiest road, so it can only be harder for all those people outside of my demographic. My ding is I dont have a college degree. I lack a formal pursuit.]

I mean, really, we cant all still be sold on the ever-growing number of us doing ever-growing more variations on the same thing driving this ever-growing free-market consume and have a job thing that we can all see just cant sustain itself.can we? I dont think so.

And if youre younger than I am, then you can see how its been going on like this in America preeeeety much since the late 40s. And this whole thing is now stretching to its limits, and we have it in us to make all the changes the better ways for everyone, I believe, are self-evident to most of us.

It is self-evident is me what I must change, personally

And yet.

And yet, as below, so above we have the capacity for greater change as people and as a people.

Do unto others has been said, a lot of different ways, for a very long time.

And yet the entire machine surrounding civilized existence says Do for yourself sooooo much louder. Do for yourself hits the survival nerve, and

Survival says Do for yourself.

Enlightened survival says Do unto others for it mutually lifts, and trusts the self survival to others. It overtly turns away from the survival nerve.

It negates the self. It negates the ego. It destroys the self. And thus it also destroys the self-driven agenda. It removes the desire of the self. And all of THAT has been said, a lot of different ways, for a very long time.

The turn from the survival nerve, generally speaking, could be called courage.

A courageous choice, generally speaking, is driven by an agenda that is not self-driven. Even a self-driven choice can be courageous if the effects of that choice change the self for some other agenda beyond the self. A courageous choice, then, is any choice away from desire any choice away from I want.

And everything that surrounds us encourages us to take what we want, get what we want, choose what we want which we can also then twist into NOT having what we DONT want.

I want my kids to go to a good school.

is not

I want everyones kids to go to good schools.

In summationish:

I just dont see a whole lot of hope.

And maybe thats just what I need to feel so I can stay in this condition and never make courageous choices. No, wait thats not true. Ill stop being an addict tomorrow. Wouldnt it be so much healthier, so much better for everyone, so much better for me, just to flip the switch on it all? Years of self-loathing suddenly ceased, no more addictions wasting hours/days/weeks/months/years of my life, all my moments to come after filled with potential and opportunity.

Wait what switch were we talking about?

[Eh, nevermind that its just me being clever. I always ideate, but never follow through the quick ones that include pain in some fashion are pretty much right out, and the ones Id pursue that would work, in my estimation, require the first step towards fulfilling the plan which is a step I do not take.]

I just a whole lot moving against a whole lot of us and it doesnt matter if youre red or blue or Republican or Democrat or urban or rural or white or non-white (that still does matter, cause its a lot rougher shake for non-whites) or male or female or on the coast or in the middle of the country or north or south if youre an American citizen and youre not in that financial threshold, however its to be established (though the self-evident is somewhere closer to, what, $200K/year? Less?) youre getting devalued in every possible manner by those with the power to make positive changes.

So maybe the first step in reducing the power of the oligarchy which is difficult to argue thats the system of governance right now is to stop considering socialism as a bad word and look at some of its practices.

All the cliches are true. They have to be. Thats how they became cliches, cause the ones that werent true over and over dont get repeated over and over. In point of fact, its kind of a shame that there even ARE cliches: Dont put your hand on a hot stovetop is not a cliche because once its learned you dont have to say it over and over. Be quiet, kind, and gently in everything you do  is a cliche because we HAVENT FIGURED IT  OUT YET.

I know, Im rambling. But Im trying to make a point. This is my impersonation of your average American citizen who sees how theyre getting disregarded, disenfranchised, and devalued in every way possible and is aware of their helplessness to change things.

Day One Irony, Partx

feels the same, because I feel the same.

You know, this  is a fairly thick website. Ive written a LOT, and theres a LOT to read here. The posts, like this one, are far more ethereal though they remain in permanence because they reflect the feeling in the moment of the composition, as this one will. Th e pages, though, are much thicker. Theres a LOT of stuff there.

My point? Well, I havent written NEARLY as much as I used to, for two reasons. First, predictably, my life became more and more busy the more idle I was, the more I was given to write. As things progressed I devoted less and less time. Fair enough.

Second reason is well, I just dont have a lot more to say. Or at least Im not as compelled to repeat myself. My cynicism towards existence has grown exponentially (weve done graphs to prove it), and my cynicism towards expressing myself in any capacity has grown even more.

You see, the thing isI dont really think Im cut out for this whole being a human in this world thing. (oh I was kidding about having done graphs) I get very little joy out of life, I get very little attention, I get very little regardand Ive no doubt Ive sown these seeds myself, and I hold myself responsible for my position in life, the level of regard given to me, the level of consideration given to me, and the level of decency I give to myself.

I ideate about suicide most every day. I dont think Ill do it, but you never know, do you? One of my depressive episodes (OR, as others have directly suggested, simply another day in some uber-depression thats been ongoing a ring of truth, hence the acknowledgment) may well end up being successful. If I could manage a way without pain, and create a mindset that drives me to the last choice, I could well achieve that end.

And THATS also funny, because its in those moments when I consider the world after Im gone will anyone even notice that I HAD this website? Will anyone notice all the things Ive said here, all the lamentations, all the inner turmoil?

What, am I supposed to ask for HELP? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

Help ME? I cannot imagine anyone feeling compelled to do so.
Surely, if asked, there are people who would express willingness to help.but why ask?

SERIOUSLY, people, for all of you who ask for people who are suicidal to reach out so they can get help, what makes you think THAT is what a suicidal person would do? Cant you imagine that the LAST thing a suicidal person would do is ask someone to help them climb out of their hole? I cannot imagine that and Im a constantly suicidal person. What would a cynical, suicidal person think? They would think Everyone has their OWN problems challenges if I reach out and ask for help, then Im admitting that I cant handle my life by myself and I need people to help me see things differently, and ultimately, people want  to deal with their own problems challenges or joys and would be much happier WITH me if I were able to help mySELF and not require their help. Thats what theyd prefer

Suicide seems selfish from the outside looking in.
Suicide is selfless from the inside out.
So does that make it a virtuous consideration? It used to be. It used to be honorable to take your own life. Given the overcrowding of the planet and the inability for the human race to rise to our better angels, it almost feels like its once again honorable to remove oneself from all consideration. Wouldnt it be easier for so many if my suffering and lamentation were no longer a factor to deal with? Wouldnt the pending difficulties of getting  older meaning how they would impact those around me   be made so much easier if those pending difficulties were taken off the table?

But Philip what about all the good qualities that you have and how you share that with others?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
(Two lines of laughter for that one in case any of you were still seeking out how this alleged cynicism manifests)

Self-loathing is selfish from the inside-out.
Self-loathing isnt noticed from the outside in. (more on this later.)

THATS the part all you Just reach out! people fail to remember. What, are you hoping for some sliver of self-worth inside the suicidally-afflicted to find purchase and compel the afflicted to reach out? Wow that feels like a rhetorical questionbecause the answer (That sort of hope is an unreasonable proposition.) seems so self-evident to me, that anyone who might answer Yes! I believe I CAN hope for a sliver of self-worth inside this person! is just naive.

Having said that, though, I totally understand why people ask for the suicidal  to reach out cause thats the ONLY WAY THE WORLD WILL KNOW YOURE SUICIDAL. No one NO ONE sees the symptoms for what they are. No one sees steps towards greater isolation, no one takes heed at comments indicating a dire lack of self-worth. People who may even have noticed any of this surely wouldnt think to themselves, That person is actually suicidal and I should maybe take some active steps to change that otherwise a tragedy will ensue that will make many people sad. Nope nope nope nope nope. Instead, theyll say, Wonder what their problem is? And THAT will be a rhetorical question because underneath there is no curiosity to genuinely find out what their problem is its merely an expression of confusion. And then the curious person will quickly drop that thought and continue about their day.

That is a COMPLETELY cynical viewpoint, I grant you. And to read that, most people would likely disagreewhen someone reads that they dont want to agree with it because it would have them casting themselves in a very selfish, unfeeling, inconsiderate light and no one wants to feel that way about themselves if they can avoid it. Instead, people will read that and say, No! I would definitely try to help! because they see themselves as kind, caring, attentive people.

And I dont fault anyone for wanting to feel that way.
And I dont fault anyone for inadvertently ignoring the signs. Its not easy. And the people who hide it well, the REAL self-loathers, will leave only the subtlest of clues, and only the TRULY attentive and TRULY considerate among us could even notice. Most of us will see these subtle clues merely as part of the din of daily existence, lost amidst the turmoil that is their OWN lives. And, again, no fault or blame is being assigned here I begrudge no one their focus on their own lives its something of a necessity, no?

Let us acknowledge, then, that the suicidal among us cannot be helped until they help themselves. That, to me, holds the paradox how can anyone expect someone to help themselves when their internal consideration has them in a position of being helpless, not worthy or deserving of help, pointless, worthless, free-of-virtue, burdensome, draining.how on Earth would you expect someone with those considerations to suddenly turn their thinking around and GAIN enough self-worth to seek help for the rest of those feelings?

I work full-time. When I work, there are things Im to do there are expectations of me, responsibilities Im beholden toand in that environment, when I get to think of what to do Im able to get through my day with suicide ideation riding right along with me every step of the way without TOO much self-loathing because at least Im busy and someone expects things of me.

Outside of that, though, Ive never ever ever really had an answer of what to do with the conglomeration of things that comprise Philip.

To be more precise, Ive never had an answer for what to do since you cant really DO what youd REALLY like to do?

Im not going into that REALLY part its been mentioned and discussed by me in many posts and pages on this site. If youre unaware and disinclined to do the research suffice to say its nothing untoward or irresponsible or unseemly or illegal. I;m not trying to be purposely vague here Im simply not inclined to delve into it here now, cause its comparatively irrelevant.

That, and also that I feel the exercise (what Id REALLY like to do) to be quite pointless, quite unregarded, actually quite ridiculous. A partially cynical viewpoint, yes, but its also from experience for I predict that response based ALSO on how my own internal want to do exercises in past times, when theyve reached fruition, have been received quite pointless, quite unregarded, actually quite ridiculous. And gosh, Im cynical about my own life because of that? Partially, yes.

I really could go on and on, railing against myself, against life, against the current condition of the human race and how, after over 3000 years (longer?) of knowing enough about what it takes to lead a virtuous life, we still act so poorly to each other.

Were still compelled, you see, to think, act, and regard ONLY ourselves.
Were encouraged to keep the arrow of our attention and actions pointed inwards, to  ourselves. Problem with that is, there ends up being only one arrow pointed at you the one you put there yourself. It is EXTRAORDINARILY SELF-EVIDENT TO ME that, if people would actually point the arrows of their attention and actions outward to others if EVERYONE would do that, then how many arrows, you suppose, would be pointed at you in that scenario? Im not sure, but itd definitely be more than one.

Living a totally selfless life, giving only, ever, to others.not concerning yourself with yourself at all, except to keep yourself healthy and  happy enough to be able to continue helping others. (Hey its completely idealized its allowed to be a sentence fragment  Im not a writer)

I dont consider myself a religious man, but WOW that feels to me like a description of the life of Jesus Christ certainly it sounds like the kind of life He was advocating. I mean, if you ignore, for the moment, the second part of the Golden Rule, then it reduces itself to Do unto others. It doesnt mention anything about keeping yourself in money and belongings how many actually beloved people from human existence were beloved because they made a lot of money or had a lot of stuff?

Jesus? Gandhi? MLKing? Mother Teresa?/
They had nothing. They acquired nothing. They horded nothing. Their lives, their comfort, their status, their popularity, their wealth none of this was in their consideration. What WAS in their consideration? Doing unto others.

And heres my next question do you suppose they helped people only when said people reached out?

Hey lepers! Feeling afflicted and want help? Just call 1-800-LEP-CURE and Jesus will, maybe, come and help you if he can!

Hungry? You dont have to feel hungry reach out to Mother Teresa and shell hopefully do what she can to get YOU food!

Yeah..no. With their arrows pointed outwards they actively sought out those in need, and went to them to offer aid.

Were not there as a race. Its SO easy, too! And, likely, if we ever get there, wed achieve something like heaven on Earth (he utters, with an internal nod to Bill Hicks for that consideration).

We had this all figured out a long time ago.
And now its 2017, and consider the state of this nation.
Getting further away from that idealized condition, aint we?
And you would suggest to me to reach out because Im really unhappy with who I am, feel incapable of being anyone of worth, and I should lean, temporarily, on other people to help me through these times?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

If Im ever successful in killing myself (though few would call that a success) and if this site ever gets posthumously reviewed, MANY MANY signals of my intention will be seen and OH WHAT A TRAGEDY WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING LETS HELP OTHERS SO THEY DONT  DO WHAT HE DID have gain a smidgen of footing before being cast aside for the next internally-driven what can I do for ME? choice.

I think my point here is, you never know. I envision posting here, in whatever madcap scenario my self-inflicted death takes on that way youd at least know WHAT. If you explore the site, you could well discover WHY or at least make a reasonable guess. This is not a suicide note. Im going to go to sleep now.

As an American citizen, my level of incredulity towards President Trump has grown to outrage, reaching the tipping point with his thuggish public comments on taking suspects into police custody.

I feel we must take greater action to express what I believe to be substantial opinion of the American citizenry:
We have had enough.

We insist the American legislative branch hold all truths of this presidency to be self-evident, and take action to remove Donald Trump from office.

But hey, what chance to we have?
Were a disparate citizenry, hundreds of millions of us, each individually toiling through our livesthe 99% paycheck-to-paycheck crowd. Health, education, climate, racism, poverty, drugs, aging, disasters, tough urban lives, tough rural lives,  tough lives everywhere [a LOT tougher if youre not a white Christian male]were all toiling through it. We watch powerless as this government ridicules and undermines itself from within. We are no longer the population of proud citizens that the oligarchy recognized as worthwhile investments we are all now only costs to corporate and governmental profits, taxpayers, and consumers.

So heres an idea:
What if all the comedians show hosts whose own incredulity gives them those big laughs decided to join together in a singular cause, to create a singular voice that says No More Jokes. Enough grist for the mill as we normalize a growing list of President Trumps outright lies; or the freefalling US global position, or the full-frontal assault on the 99%, or the climate, or the vulgarities. It feels as every aspect of American governmental leadership is deteriorating into caricature.

Consider the notion of all the big late-night names, united together, and completely stopping comedic monologues, using that time instead to speak for the silent majority the 99% that shall further suffer from this deterioration of ideals.

And what if they did this nonstop every day continuing the same message, using whatever latest example demonstrates why its such a good idea until Congress takes action? And what if others beyond late-night hosts began adding their outrage, helping to amplify our voices so Congress must meet the demands of their constituents?  Were too fragmented and distracted a nation, and our daily toils stresses prevent us from mounting enough force to foment the change we would wish to see this Congress undertake.

Most importantly, we can no longer abide the growing chance this atrociousness will escalate towards more indescribable scenarios so many of us tremble to feel are actually on the table.

Somebody could write all that out a whole lot better, and everyone agree to it.
