This handbook contains information on courses and components (majors, minors, streams and units) at Curtin in 2020. Further course information can be found at https://study.curtin.edu.au/search/ Information for the previous years curriculum is available at Courses Handbook 2019. A Course is a structured combination of approved units which when completed qualifies the student for an award from Curtin. A course may include a major(s), minor(s) and/or, stream(s). A Unit is a discrete entity of study within a subject area and is the fundamental component for teaching, learning and assessment. A Major is a series of units which pursues learning of a single discipline or area of study. A Minor/Specialisation is a smaller set of units designed to enhance graduate employability. A Stream is a specialised structure of units within a course and is used to define a specific pathway of study. Use the 'Search' feature to find out more about a course, major, minor, stream or unit of study. Search by Free Text Enter one or more words from the course title OR its code (called the 'study package code' or 'course code'. e.g. B-ARTS) Undergraduate courses include: Bridging, Associate Degree, Bachelor Degree, and Bachelor Honours Degree. Postgraduate courses include: Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Search by Field of Education Select from the many careers catered for by Curtin courses. Search by Teaching Area / Faculty Select a teaching area/faculty to view courses offered across Curtin locations. Select Vice-Chancellory for courses offered by areas other than a faculty. Select a Faculty for a list of courses offered by a school/department. Search by Degree Type Select from the drop down list to view Courses by degree type.
