Towards security. Building confidence. We are an unarmed civilian monitoring mission of the European Union. We were deployed in October 2008 following the EU-mediated Six Point Agreement which ended the August war. Patrolling 24/7 Ever since our deployment in October 2008 we have been patrolling day and night, particularly in the areas adjacent to Abkhazia and South Ossetia to help EU decision-makers shape their policy in Georgia and the wider region. No return to hostilities Our priorities are to ensure that there is no return to hostilities, to facilitate the resumption of a safe and normal life for the communities living in the areas adjacent to the Administrative Boundary Lines, to build confidence among the parties and to inform EU policy in Georgia and the wider region. In 2016/2017, I worked for EU Monitoring Mission (EUMM) in Mtskheta Field Office and since April 2019, I am happy to work in Gori Field Office. I consider it a privilege to be able to return to Georgia for a second tour of duty, and I am very grateful for having this opportunity. Working with professional international as well as with national colleagues, who all come from different backgrounds (civilian, police, military), is on one hand a personal benefit for me, but constitutes an even bigger benefit for the Mission. I cannot help but think that the boy with the notebook would be pretty pleased about where I ended up! When I was a kid, perhaps 8-9 years old, I had a notebook in which I wrote down all the capitals of the world. I was fascinated by the world outside of my room in Malmo, Sweden, and somehow Tbilisi really appealed to me. After completing studies in political science and an MA in Human Rights, I worked initially in Kosovo for an international NGO specialising in minority rights... I had never visited the South Caucasus before, but now I find myself in Zugdidi at the heart of it. Last October, I joined the Administrative Boundary Line (ABL) Team of Field Office Zugdidi...
