Beaufort Street Network AGM and Public Meeting Wed 29 Nov

Come along and join to talk about the future of Beaufort Street and the Network.

Time: 6.00pmDate: Wednesday 29 November 2020Venue: Five Bar on Beaufort Street

The Beaufort Street Network was the first of its kind, a community group of like-minded people who love the area and wanted to make it a great place to live and work.  It’s been incredibly successful in its 7 year history, delivering the Beaufort Street Festival, street art, markets, the Mary Street Piazza and many, many other wonderful things.

We are a grounds-up ideas facilitator, we want to have structures in place to allow locals, businesses and visitors alike to get involved.

Our new structure will be more focussed, allowing volunteers to partake in a focus group they are interested in or have expertise in.  It’s a structure that can assist and promote the community’s ideas and advocate for positive change in our area.  We would really like to see those who love Beaufort Street come along to our Annual General Meeting at Five Bar on Wednesday 29th November at 6pm. See you there!

Mary Street Piazza Wins National Award

Our very own Mary Street Piazza received a commendation at this year’s National Awards for Planning Excellence in the Great Place category https://www.planning.org.au/awards

The piazza was designed, built and funded by the City of Vincent. What a great job guys! Thank you!

But the piazza was also made possible by the positive feedback from the community and the hard work of the Beaufort Street Network. It is an excellent example of a local government working closely with the community to create an awesome new public space, which we can enjoy for decades to come.

The West Australian newspaper wrote about the award in this article.

If you don’t know about it, the piazza is located on the corner of Beaufort and Mary Streets in Highgate, outside the Mary Street Bakery. And this is what it looks like.

Musicians can play to the street
Cafe Jazz perform in Mary Street Piazza
Flanked by cool murals
A community engagement session to plan the piazza

I hope those guys are coming back for their stuff?
Adults loved pop-up petting zoo
Arco playing jazz violin classics
Nice spot in the sun
A place for the local community to gather
Kids loved the pop-up petting zoo

Beaufort Street Network Annual General Meeting 2016

It’s that time of the year again when we ask our members to consider where they would like to see their Network heading and to actively get involved.

The Beaufort Street Network Annual General Meeting will be held on Wednesday 30th November, 2016 at 6.30pm at Defectors Bar, Upstairs at Flying Scotsman, 639 Beaufort Street, Mt Lawley.

All positions on the Executive Committee are open for nomination.

We need a mixed representation of business and resident members directing the Network and volunteering their services. If you feel strongly about your community, then we would urge you to nominate for one of these positions.

The current office bearers (Chair, Deputy, Secretary and Treasurer) will ensure a timely handover to new nominees so please get in touch if you have any questions whatsoever.

You need to be a paid up member to nominate, we will be sending out renewal notices this week to any expired members, if you know of someone who would love to fill a position on the Network Executive Committee and they aren’t a current member then please feel free to pass this email on and we will make sure they are in a position to nominate.

Thank you all for your support this past year and we look forward to moving into 2017 with a new Executive Committee and new members of our subsidiary committees which include Events, Membership, Marketing and BSAM (Beaufort Street Artisan Market). If you wish to sit on one of the subsidiary committees and not the main committee, we would like to hear from you.

Dogtober on Beaufort Street is back this Sunday 9 October 2020.

Visitors will be able to have photos taken with their favourite pooches, pick up doggie treats, win raffle prices and enter the Dog Show, hosted by special guest City of Vincent Mayor, John Carey.

The Beaufort Street Artisan Market is an initiative of the community-based non-profit, the Beaufort Street Network and will include all the usual products such as art, craft, food, ceramics, fashion, furniture and jewellery. It was established in 2014 to promote local artists and create a vibrant, colourful and dynamic event on Beaufort Street.

“Dogtober is one the best events on Beaufort Street”, said local dog lover, Pam Herron, Chair of the Beaufort Street Network. “We’ll have a photographer taking free photos of you and your dog and our famous Dog Show from 11.30am.

“Dogtober also supports local dog-focussed charities that will have stalls on the day”.

The free outdoor art market offers a unique chance for local creatives to display their wares in a market stall, a suitcase display or a fence display. All products are Western Australian-made, with art from the local area the top priority.

“There are lots of other markets around Perth now. But there is nothing quite like the Beaufort Street Artisan Market. It’s a very affordable way for local artisans and stallholders to find new customers and sell their products.”

“It’s one of a range of things we are doing to create a better Beaufort Street”, says Herron.

The Dogtober Artisan Market will be on from 9am to 1pm, Sunday 9 October 2020 in the Barlee Street carpark on Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley.
