Our MissionThe Office of Government Relations’ mission is to represent Virginia Tech before federal and state government officials and agencies.About UsThe Executive Director of Government Relations leads the Office of Government Relations and reports directly to the President of the university.  The Office of Government Relations is organizationally located within the Office of the President. Strategically located in Northern Virginia, Richmond, and Blacksburg, Virginia Tech’s government relations team has decades of experience in federal and state government relations and in higher education.In addition to representing the university before federal and state government officials and agencies, the Office of Government Relations closely monitors legislation and agency actions, facilitates interactions with university administrators and faculty in support of university initiatives, and cultivates relationships with elected and appointed officials to keep them informed on issues and initiatives important to the university and higher education.  The Office of Government Relations also coordinates campus visits by government officials to inform them of the university's research, educational programs, and priorities.Interactions with government officials and university positions on legislation and issues are governed by university policy.  To learn more about our policies and procedures, please visit our Policies page or contact us at (540) 231-7111. .  Executive Director of Government RelationsChristopher Yianilos 900 N.
