For more than 20 years Kids Coop has been entertaining audiences in Derry at the Opera House. On March Friday, March 13th and Saturday, March 14th they will be presenting “Frozen, Jr”. For the past few months they have been rehearsing at their new home on Derry Road, perfecting the songs and dances that are so familiar to movie goers, while creating a family atmosphere for actors and directors alike. This production is part of the annual young director’s showcase, and the preview showed the very high quality of the production.Under the mentor ship of Maureen Mansfield and Marilyn Olbricht, a team that has been together for many years, the youngThe Young Directorsdirectors, Erin Downey (stage direction), Maya Lincoln (music direction) and Christine Katter (choreography) have produced a show that brings out the talents of each of the players. On press night the three of them introduced each number to be previewed with flair and pride. Their excitement in presenting the actors was matched with the enthusiasm and professionalism of the cast as they sang and danced.The title roles of Anna and Elsie are shared to show the aging of the character.  Playing the young two are Aislinn Sprague and Kiley Layne; the middle two are Avenley Allen and Rowan Gifford; and the older two are Zoe Sternberg and Kim Bailey. Their parents, the King and Queen are played by Brody Martin and Reya Rivera.   Playing opposite the older Anna and Elsa are Logan Young as Kristoff, Deontae Lipine as Sven, Colby Lynch as Hans and Isabella Charlebois as Olaf.  As members of the Oaken Family, Sofia Bubert, Kayden Conklin, Morgan Conte, Kelly Egan, Hope Frost, Gianna Ghanem, Ella and Ryan Hewes, Kayla Hoyt, Megan Lautieri, Anna Lawrence, Angelina Martinez, Kalisan Marzofl, and Ciatlin Trogler bring an energy to the show that is enjoyable to watch.  Playing the Bishop is Katie Schulsinger.  Kayleigh Lorenzini, Maddison Stevens, Gabriella Urnetta and Molly Watson are Ice Dancers.   Rounding out the cast as townspeople and castle staff are Leah Butterworth, Rebecca Eyre, Quinn Giarusso, Skylar Marzolf, Gabrijela Strobel-Kosic, Hope and Lily Tessier, Braeden Tremain and Zachary Webster-Adams.Disney’s Frozen Jr. will be performed March 13th at 7pm and March 14th at 1pm and 7pm at the Derry Opera House.  All tickets are $15 and are available at www.kids-coop-theatre.org. I ran for one open position last year against a incumbent and came up just short! I am a citizen of Londonderry for over 34 years. I have had three children graduate through the Londonderry School system and currently have two grandchildren in our schools. In addition to being a long time resident we have owned a company in Town for over 30 years and I personally have been involved in coaching youth and High School sports in Town for over 27 years. This includes coaching experience for the High School Boy’s Lacrosse and football teams, as well as coaching the High School Girls varsity lacrosse team from 2006 to 2016. I am proud to say that 40 girls that I had the privilege of coaching went on to receive college scholarships, and that is much more important to me than the success they had on the field.With my grandchildren currently in our schools I have a vested interest in making sure we are providing our children and teachers with everything they need. While our current standards are high, I’m always looking to find solutions to make things even better. We need to be sure we are able to responsibly support our teachers and children with the modern programs and tools they need to continue to move forward. This includes policies, curriculum (including trades) and technology.Our school district has significant capital projects and decisions on the horizon (check out the 5-Year capital improvement plan). I feel my extensive business experience can be an asset to the board in this area at this very important time. It has been a pleasure to work with the Town in the past and if I am fortunate enough to be elected I would look forward to continuing to work closely with the Town, schools, our teachers, our taxpayers and our entire community as a School Board member.During my time in Town I have built an addition on the back of the High School at no cost to the schools or community (all donations) which is currently used for classroom space, stepped in to help cut costs and develop the current Cable Studio at budget and have constructed a large percentage of all the dugouts and retaining walls at the LAFA fields and High School at cost. Moving forward, if elected, I would not complete any work for the schools or Town unless it was done at cost or through donations. I was proud to accept the Bob Lincoln Youth Service Award in 2011. I’ve always been interested in serving the taxpayers of our Town and helping to make our school system the best it possibly can be for our teachers and children.I have attended nearly every school board meeting for the last two years and have made great strides in working with the current school board and administration. I am a member of the Facilities Study committee which is a sub-committee to the school board. This committee is currently charged with developing a 10 year Master plan for all facilities for our district including all schools and the district office. This process will allow us as a district to make the most prudent decisions moving forward in terms of capital improvements and space needs.I also joined the C-3 committee this past year which covers topics such as curriculum, technology, wellness and facilities. The members of this committee are primarily teachers and administrators.I look forward to taking the knowledge I have gained over the last several years and working with everyone to be sure we are providing all we need to support our schools, teachers and children to the highest degree moving forward while also maximizing every dollar to be sure we are being responsible with our taxpayer’s money. I want our community to be involved and bring their ideas to be heard. The more support, ideas, and participation we have from our community will only benefit our schools and our children. The Londonderry Fire Department has decided to cancel this year s open house event, held at the Central Fire Station on Mammoth Road. Fire Chief Darren O Brien announced the news this morning, stating that the planned event was contingent on construction at the new station.Generally held in late October, the event is an annual tradition that invites guests inside the firehouse for safety demonstrations, fire prevention tips, and fun activities for all ages. In years past, children would get to blast a real fire hose at a target, experience a smoke room to learn the dangers and how to react to smoke in the home, and much more.Chief O Brien said he doesn t feel the new firehouse is ready to accommodate the event yet this season. The last thing I want is for someone to get injured with uneven ground or construction debris throughout the building, he explained. In addition, I would rather have a large event where the whole building can be viewed and toured during the said event. No word has been announced if the station will hold an open house at a later date. The Wildcats are now half-way through the regular football season while the cheerleaders are busily preparing for their upcoming local competitions.  The Londonderry Wildcats are the largest youth football and cheerleading organization in NH supporting 3 flag football teams and 6 tackle football teams from 8U (2nd graders) through 13U(8th graders); and cheer squads with athletes in kindergarten through 8th grade..This weeks game(s) of the week will highlight the Wildcat 13U and 9U tackle football game action13U Wildcats vs. Razorbacks Are you afraid of the dark?  Under the lights at LHS Varsity field the 13U Wildcats sporting their new black game jersey’s hosted the perennial power Pelham Razorbacks in 8th grade football action.  These 2 teams have a history, as they advanced through theAYF football levels, having played each other in regular season games and playoffs.  These games are usually close and tonight would be no exception.Like two prize fighters the teams slowly tested each other under the lights last Saturday at LHS.  Pelham taking the opening kick off on their first series facing a 4th and 2 decided to go for it.  The Pelham back took the hand-off in the backfield and was immediately stopped for a loss by Wildcat #24 Charlie Lantz.  The Wildcats would fair no better.  On their opening series facing a 4th and short – the Cats were stopped by the Pelham defense.  And so set the tone of the game.Nearing the end of the first quarter Pelham, again facing a 4th down decided to go for it in the air, but an alert Wildcat #10 Jake Perron batted down the ball to give possession to Londonderry.  Taking advantage of the Pelham mistake Londonderry struck quickly.  Wildcat QB #1 Cam Brutus completed a 34 yard pass to #20 Cam Chambers that put the ball on the Pelham 25.  From there Jake Perron would run the final 25 yards and the early Londonderry lead.Starting way back on their own 6 yard line the Razorbacks ground out a long 10+ minute drive scoring on a short TD run with just over 2 minutes left in the half.  Wildcat #2 Quinton Delorey would stop the Razorback EP run to keep the score tied at 6.On the next series it would take Londonderry 18 seconds of game time to pull ahead.  After covering up the Pelham kickoff on their 36 yard line Wildcat QB Cam Brutus would connect with #20 Cameron Chambers for a 64 yard pass and run play to pull ahead 12 to 6.  In youth football in recognition for the skill and effort it takes to make a kick after TD, AYF awards 2 points for the effort.  Wildcat Jake Perron would connect on the kick and the 2 critical points to put Londonderry ahead 14 to 6.With just over 2 minutes in the half Pelham would find lightening on their own long run from scrimmage taking the ball all the way down to the Londonderry 21 yard line.  Forcing the ball down to the Wildcat 9 Pelham hit a wall.  That wall would be Wildcat #75 Tyler Miles.  On a 3rd and goal from the 9 Ty would slam the Pelham back forcing a fumble quickly scooped up by Wildcat Jake Perron on the 10 yard line to give the ball back to Londonderry with just 2 seconds left in the half.Disaster was averted when Londonderry’s long pass attempt was intercepted by Pelham and with time running out Wildcats Quinton Delorey and #14 Conor Williams stopped the return on the 5 yard line to preserve the Londonderry 14 to 6 halftime lead.The Londonderry defense was stout on the day.  Wildcat #34 Michael Thistle led all tacklers with 8 solo tackles ( 4 for a loss), and a QB sack.  Wildcat #5 Seth Doyon would have 4 solo tackles and Ty Miles would also record 4 solo tackles (3 for loss) to go along with his forced fumble.Both teams would again change possessions to start the 2nd half.  Cam Brutus on the Wildcat second possession of the half would connect to #7 Sam Melia on a 50 yard pass to the Pelham 9 yard.  But the excellent opportunity would slip away after several penalties and then a Razorback interception would give the ball back to Pelham.Would Pelham get back into the game or would the Cats hold on for the victory select the link below for final game details and a story on the Wildcat 9U squad. Read More LostNMissing Inc, a national nonprofit organization based in Londonderry, New Hampshire, is assisting the family of missing Michael Mike McClain of Manchester, NH. An awareness event, open to the media and public, to be held on Saturday, September 14 from 10:00 am until 11:30 am at Greeley Park, across from the Band Shell, on 100 Concord Street in Nashua. They ask for as many volunteers as possible to attend. Missing posters will be given to volunteers to help post in various local businesses and high traffic areas, to bring awareness of McClain s missing status. It is hoped that these posters will bring needed tips to law enforcement to locate him, said Karen Sysyn, a volunteer with the organization. "Refreshments will be served and the family will be available to media, for interviews, Sysyn further added.McClain disappeared after a night out with friends from the Tropical Lounge in Nashua, NH on April 20 in Nashua. Surveillance cameras captured him at the Nashua McDonald s in the early morning hours and witnesses stated he appeared to be waiting for a ride. It is not known by whom and he has not been seen since.McClain s parents say their son, nicknamed MikeNice” by many has been working with autistic children at the non-profit Easter Seals in Manchester since he graduated with a bachelor s degree in criminal justice. A Stamford, CT native, McClain has lived in Manchester the past 7 years after attending the now closed Mt. Washington College. His family says his disappearance is highly out of character. This is a dream, a nightmare, said Edward McClain, Michael s father, about the state the family is in. And we are just hoping we can wake up from this. Mike would never intentionally not make contact with his family, nor friends. According to his family, trouble occurred at the Nashua bar before McClain disappeared. A fight took place that he was not involved in and when the crowd dispersed, he was gone, the family said on a missing person poster which also read, Friends waited 45 minutes and drove back to Manchester, N.H., without him. It was reported at some time that early am he sent a text believing he was being followed.McClain has brown eyes, but wears green contact lenses. At the time missing, he had braids in his hair and stands 5 feet, 10 inches tall. He also has tattoos on his hands and arms.
