Graduation and Prom Update Jun 27, 2020 Dear Graduates, Students and Parents/Guardians:As of Friday evening (June 26), Butler County remains in the green phase. Unfortunately, this means we will not be able to hold the postponed Graduation Ceremony or the Prom that were planned for July.I am thankful that we were able to hold mini diploma ceremonies to honor the outstanding accomplishments of our graduates. We are taking healthy and safety precautions as a result of COVID-19 that will impact how our athletic program traditionally operates. Virtual Choir 2020 Graduation Song Jun 5, 2020 Our 2020 Graduation Song is another incredible performance from our students and community! Students composed the music and wrote poems that became the lyrics. Then our choir students recorded their voice parts remotely. We also had members of our community record their own voices, including students as young as 5th grade, Butler alumni and other adults in our community. Food Service Celebration Jun 3, 2020 Since our schools physically closed on March 17, our food service team has been working to provide meals to our students. Did you know that as of this week they prepared over 200,000 meals? This calls for a celebration!On Wednesday, June 3, the school districtrecognized and celebrated the hard work of 40 food service employees.The Butler County Commissioners issued a proclamation at a ceremony. In addition, the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank presenteda plaque to Emily Brittain Community Partnership and Demonstration School for their exceptional results in the Southwestern Pennsylvania School Breakfast Challenge. The goal of this challenge was to increase participation in the School Breakfast Program throughout our region. Emily Brittain had a 17% increase in School Breakfast participation in October 2019 compared to October 2018.Fun Facts Total meals served each day -- more than2,000 Total meals served to date -- just over 200,000 Total mealsdeliveredto front doors -- about 185,000 Number of food service employees about 40 Number of School Police -- 24 (for meal delivery) Number of miles traveled on the delivery routes each day -- almost 250 square milesWe would like to thank all of our food service employees, our school police officers and the Nutrition Group for making this possible!Click to view more photos on Flickr
