OverviewThe Simmons lab investigates how biomechanical forces on cells lead to regeneration, repair, and disease of cardiovascular tissues. Our dynamic team of engineers, biomedical scientists, and physicists tackle applied biomedical problems in the areas of heart valve mechanobiology and disease, stem cell-based tissue regeneration, and microfluidic physiological systems. We are affiliated with the Department of Mechanical Industrial Engineering and Institute of Biomaterials Biomedical Engineering at the University of Toronto, and are core members of the Translational Biology Engineering Program in the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research.Recent News Neda wins Postdoctoral Scholarship!Lauren wins her category at UnERD 2020!Bahram receives the Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplement!More news Recent Publications Chung Jennifer C-Y., Wong Edwin, Tang Mingyi, Eliathamby Daniella, Forbes Thomas L., Butany Jagdish, Simmons Craig A., Ouzounian Maral, Biomechanics of Aortic Dissection: A Comparison of Aortas Associated With Bicuspid and Tricuspid Aortic Valves.
