AUMI Book Update! (July 2021)
The AUMI Editorial Collective has submitted a book manuscript, Improvising Across Abilities: Pauline Oliveros and the Adaptive Use Musical Instrument (AUMI) to a book series entitled Music & Social Justice at University of Michigan Press. Our call for chapters-of-all-shapes-and-sizes yielded a wealth of essays, poems, artwork, and media. The manuscript we submitted contains 33 chapters, as well as accompanying media files—audio and video. We hope to hear from the press this fall, and will share updates at that time. Many thanks to all of the musicians, dancers, composers, poets, theatre artists, visual artists, programmers, developers, and designers; all the occupational and music therapists and teachers, communities, librarians, disability advocates, and activists for social justice who work with AUMI and who contributed to this exciting volume. We look forward to sharing more widely the work you have shared with us.AUMI for iOS Update information:

The AUMI Dream Ensemble of Kansas was proud to curate week 1 of the Facebook page for IONE's 25th Annual Dream Festival, December 2-8, 2019. So far, this group of improvisers in Lawrence, Kansas, using the AUMI for iOS version of the Adaptive Use Musical Instrument, has posted four sound videos, featuring compositions and videos were written and produced by Kip Haaheim using images and audio available from the NASA website for public use. Some pieces feature poetry written and performed by Julie Unruh. Numerous audio clips from Oliver Hall's inspirational work "Symphony of Planets" were used with his blessing. Recording engineer Jim Barnes recorded the AUMI tracks at the Lawrence Public Library. Enjoy! These performances are archived on Facebook. To check out other AUMI activities in Kansas, visit AUMI-KU InterArts. Here are a few ways to find out what's going on with AUMI:
