ZONTA CLUB OF GLENS FALLS
16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM
The SANE Nurses of Glens Falls Hospital introduced a new program at the monthly meeting of the Zonta Club of Glens Falls. SANE is the acronym for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, registered nurses with special training to address all people who are sexual assault victims.
In addition to the sexual assault aspect of their duties, these forensic nurses have received a grant, entitled STOP Violence Against Women. The money focuses on providing the skills necessary to gather evidence to protect the victims of all violence against women, and to provide training for testifying in court as a credible witness against the abuser.
This program initiated Zonta’s 16 Days of Activism effort, Just say NO, which formally begins on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
