the sun on lakeside water
gleams on surface glass
you can not fail to notice
that light can smother dark
it sparkles and it spangles
and here is where i’ll stay
till every drop of golden
has rinsed all doubts away

a backlog of truant messages
the heart's inbox swollen
with evangelical rumblings
of God
and survival
and love finding its pedestal
broken, withered, succinctly written in poetic
fabrications
I believe ..

revision's vision's vacated
rogue-writer writes, wrangles
wrests words wily
willingly wastes no time
traveling back over and over
to those same wily wrested words
once owned for the few seconds
of second looks longing..

a very simple
old poet
collects his thoughts
into an album of belief
that he can still write
then dumps his portfolio
into a dumpster
secures a brush,
a blank canvas
tries a new tactic
