Southwest Chicago Post

.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul chapter at Two Holy Martyrs Parish will host a bundle weekend on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19.

Volunteers will staff two trailers at the St. Rene Goupil Church parking lot, 64th and New England, from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to noon Sunday.

Men's, women's and children's clothing will be accepted. All clothing should be boxed or bagged. Even torn and ragged clothing is accepted because those will be sold in bulk to companies that make rags.

Volunteers also will accept small household items, but not televisions, furniture or baby items like car seats, cribs or strollers.

All donated items (especially breakable items) should be packed securely, since they will be transported in a trailer over city and suburban streets.

Donated items are typically sold at a Society of St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. The closest one is in Orland Park near 159th and Harlem.

Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Receipts will be made available to donors at the trailer.

Helping individuals and families in Cook and Lake Counties since 1857, the Society is the oldest charity in the Chicago area.
SVdP Chicago provides a number of services to needy families and individuals in the community, including food, shelter and clothing.

Additional help with utility bills, rent and even emotional and spiritual support transforms lives.

More than 800,000 needy people in Cook and Lake counties are served each year.

The SVdP chapter at Two Holy Martyrs welcomes new members. For details, speak with any chapter member at the donation trailer.
