Beloved St. James Family Members
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. After the death and resurrection of Jesus, the most important aspect of Christ's life is the Ascension. This is the moment that marks the culmination of the earthly ministry of Jesus. Forty days after the resurrection, Jesus and His disciples went to Mount Olivet, near Jerusalem. Jesus blessed them and He began to ascend into heaven. The Ascension of Jesus Christ is meaningful for several reasons: It signaled the end of His earthly ministry. It signified success in His earthly work. It marked the return of His heavenly glory. It symbolized His exaltation by the Father. It allowed Him to prepare a place for us and it set the pattern for His return.
The Pentecost event was a unique manifestation of the outpouring of the Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit is co-equal with God the Father and God the Son and is of the same essence. Christians can observe the events connected with Jesus Christ on earth in real earnest, but not the Pentecost or the festival of the Holy Spirit.
