Friday night was a beautiful celebration of community and Rain Poetry at Northview Heights in Pittsburgh! The rain may have forced us indoors for most of the big reveal event (naturally!) but it stopped in time for us all to walk together to view the poems written by the talented teens of @youthplacesyp. Special thanks to the @housingauthoritypgh and the residents of Northview Heights for welcoming us so enthusiastically and warmly to your neighborhood!
Another big shoutout to James Doyle from the The Grable Foundation and Jake Wheatley, Chief of Staff for Mayor Ed Gainey of the City of Pittsburgh for joining us! We’re thrilled you were there.
Weston White and Leanna Lyle of Youth Places, we couldn’t have done it without you! Nor brilliant teaching artist Karen Howard, or artists Shane Pilster and Max Gonzales. Thank you!!!
Finally, thanks to our generous #RainPoetryPGH funders The Grable Foundation, The Heinz Endowments, the Richard King Mellon Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities!
