ICONIC MALLARD COTTAGE SAVED AND POISED
FOR ONGOING SUCCESS

St. John’s, NL – With recent issues and financial risks now completely resolved, the owner of the famous Mallard Cottage is pleased to announce that the restaurant will open for the season later this month.

“I fell in love with NL and Mallard Cottage many years ago. I feel privileged to now lead this iconic establishment that is rooted in one of the most amazing places on earth” said Blair McIntosh, owner of Mallard Cottage. “It was with optimism, a true belief in the business, and the support of so many kind and amazing people that enabled me to overcome all obstacles standing in the way of Mallard’s reopening”.

Mallard Cottage will open its doors to guests in late May. The restaurant will continue its proud tradition of featuring menu items that reflect the authentic culinary traditions of the province, paying homage to Newfoundland and Labrador’s rich culture and heritage.

“We are now focused on a bright future for Mallard Cottage and how we continue to celebrate the special way it showcases Newfoundland and Labrador’s vibrant and unique culture,” adds McIntosh. “The tourism and hospitality sector in this province is second-to-none, and I feel so honoured to not only experience it myself, but to play a role in it. Sharing my love and appreciation for Mallard Cottage with others is a dream come true.”

McIntosh and his team have been busy working on landscaping and exterior renovations and improving and enlarging the interior space, while preserving the Mallard’s original and distinct ambiance. Mallard’s kitchen has also been completely upgraded to ensure a continued top-quality dining experience. There will be other exciting announcements in the coming weeks.

McIntosh has brought on Matthew Feener and Larissa Kolundzic as General Manager and Assistant General Manager of Mallard Cottage and The Inn by Mallard Cottage. They have been working tirelessly to prepare Mallard for its grand opening. They are passionate and poised to help this celebrated landmark and authentic NL eatery continue its tradition of serving up delectable local fare, unmatched ambiance, and top-notch hospitality.

“Mallard Cottage will continue to be a truly wonderful restaurant experience,” concluded McIntosh. “I am grateful to the people of this province for being so welcoming and supportive and I encourage folks from near and far to visit Mallard Cottage and other establishments which make up the vast and wonderful mosaic of restaurants that St. John’s has to offer. I am also very appreciative to Todd Perrin for bringing Mallard Cottage to life and creating an iconic place that our team are now fortunate enough to take into its next chapter.”

Mallard Cottage will be launching its new website in the coming days with information on menu, opening hours and upcoming events.
