Laird Wilcox

Laird Wilcox founded the Wilcox Collection on Contemporary Political Movements in the Kenneth Spencer Library at the University of Kansas in 1965 and has continued to build the collection ever since.

Wilcox has written numerous books, essays and reports on the political and nonprofit organizations on the Right and Left, many of which may be downloaded for free from the Publications page of this website.

As a prominent researcher on political groups on both the Left and Right, Wilcox has been interviewed by major media outlets, such as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and National Public Radio. In 2018, the C-SPAN network toured the Wilcox Collection at the Spencer Library. Several of these articles may be found on the Interviews page.

“The Wilcox Collection takes as its mission the preservation of this literature from the political fringe for posterity. It is truly one of a kind.” — Brian Drake, University of Kansas
