Penn Engineering Announces First Ivy League Undergraduate Degree in Artificial Intelligence

The Raj and Neera Singh Program in Artificial Intelligence is the latest in a long list of Penn Engineering firsts. It responds to the critical need for specialized engineers in the wake of the rapid rise of generative AI technologies, and the potential for tremendous impact as we confront society’s greatest challenges. This program will be available beginning in fall 2024, with applications for existing Penn students who would like to transfer into the 2024 cohort available this spring. On May 7th, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) dedicated an IEEE Milestone marker in recognition of the significance of the A-0 compiler, an early innovation in computer programming developed by Grace Hopper, the pioneering computer scientist who served as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania. Penn Engineering Wins $13.5 Million Grant from DARPA to Enhance National Computer Security

SEAS has secured a $13.5 million grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to pioneer cutting-edge technology aimed at enhancing national computer security. Leading this effort and serving as the director and overall lead for this effort will be André DeHon, Professor in the Departments of ESE and CIS., in collaboration with Jing Li, Eduardo D. Class of 2024 President's Engagement, Innovation Prize Winners Announced

University of Pennsylvania Interim President J. Larry Jameson announced the recipients of the 2024 President’s Engagement and Innovation Prizes. Awarded annually, the Prizes empower Penn undergraduate students to design and undertake post-graduation projects that make a positive, lasting difference in the world. Fourth-year students Yash Dhir, a systems science and engineering major, and Rahul Nambiar, an applied science in computer science major, have received the President’s Innovation Prize for their project, Jochi.
