The Judicial Council of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (the A.M.E. Zion Church) was established in 1988 and has has issues many decisions. The decisions were published in the A.M.E. Zion Church's Star of Zion newspaper. However, therein no central repository of which one could find previously issued Judicial Council decisions. The Rev. Attorney John L. Walker, Sr. saw the need for reviewing, from time to time, previously issued decision and undertook the task of compiling all prior decisions. In doing so, it was necessary to review all issues of the Star of Zion since the establishment of the Judicial Council.

The archive of the Star of Zion in Charlotte, North Carolina was the starting
place for the issued decisions. It was very difficult to copy the decisions and not at the same time destroy the hard-bound copies of the Star of Zion. As a result, photo snapshots and scanned images were obtained and pen and ink copying all were used to reconstruct the decisions contained in this volume. Every attempt was made to accurately reproduce the decisions. Any errors, omissions and other inaccuracies that may appear in this compilation (other than format changes) are purely accidental, and are not intended to take away from the original documents. In compiling the decisions herein, forethought was given to generating a website so that the general population can have easy access.
