Jazz Elite

This is a video of Jazz Elite performing at a Texas State home basketball game. Jazz Elite is a specialty group that Strutters can try out for if they are interested in a challenge. These girls are featured in team dances with advanced choreography and perform extra dances for Spring Show and Basketball season.

Opening Night

The first night of spring show was a success! I can’t believe the year is almost over with these girls, college flies by so fast. Don’t miss our last two shows tonight and Saturday night at 7.

Miss San Marcos

One of our own, Jackie Davis, has recently been crowned Miss San Marcos 2014 and we are so proud of her! Jackie is a fourth year Strutter who is an excellent representation of everything our organization is about. Her next stop will be competing for Miss Texas.

Congratulations Jackie!

Live For The Applause

Last Saturday was the one of the hardest, but most rewarding practices of my life! We learned a fantastic routine from the talented choreographer Michael Schwandt, who’s work has been seen on So You Think You Can Dance Vietnam, numerous choreographed pieces for the Miss Universe Pageant, as well as many other performances. It was the opportunity of a lifetime. The whole team had the privilege of experiencing a day in the life of a professional dancer, and let me tell you, it is not an easy job. We were practicing from 8:00-3:00 with a short lunch break, although the soreness kicked in well before that break. Blisters and bruises aside, the day was a success. We have an entire routine choreographed and cleaned to almost perfection, and for a team of around100 girls that is a pretty big accomplishment!

A Year Round Commitment

Many Texas State Students know Strutters by our half time kick performances at football games. However, our season doesn’t end there, it’s a year round commitment. The team practices Monday, Wednesday, and Friday every week of the school year. After Football season, we begin learning and perfecting Strutters Spectacular Spring Show dances, which we also perform at basketball games. These dances have a much wider variety of styles, such as Jazz, Modern, Broadway, Kick, and this year, Tap! Spring show is scheduled for April 11th and 12th 2014. Though Football season may be over, we are excited about basketball season and already working hard on making this year’s show an unforgettable one.
