Muh New Toy! - Pentax k-x with 18-55mm DAL Kit Lenses

My spanking new Pentax k-x in navy blue. (Read the 30-page review from DPreview)

Although I've always wanted to step into photography, it took a year or so for me to decide on getting a DSLR. I'm aware that it will be an enormous investment and alot of research has to be done since I'm totally new to the hobby, and I'm not sure whether I'll be able to handle it well enough.

Pentax is a less commercially-recognized brand, but I believe that it's the insides that matter, no? (the same reason why I bought a Rebecca Minkoff bag for the same price as Coach or more, although this brand is almost totally unknown in Singapore... more quality-conscious than brand conscious, fortunately!)

The specs surprised me. The cost surprised me even more. It's totally value-for-money - the user reviews and sample photos are fantastic, too. I think they have a hundred colours or something for the Japanese version! Singapore only has... four? Black, navy blue, red, white. Most ladies would choose the white one, but I just like being controversial for no good reason. And I love the fact that it's the colour of the night.

Taken with iPhone 4 - Noisy, I know.
Here's a sample shot of the wilting flowers (courtesy of the boyfriend) in my room.

The pink, wilting rose as the main subject.
Considering that the lighting in my room is similar to a horror movie set's, and that I'm a total n00b, this is a considerably oh-kay shot. It's a little under-exposed, but I'll learn.

Taking the dear k-x to the streets this weekend. Nothing beats learning from experience.
