   CROSSING INTO MIRACLES

" ye shall remove from your place" Joshua 3:3

                                           Edward Proffitt, Th. D.

In 1998 Larry Page and Sergey Brin incorporated GOOGLE while still in college. Internet users perform over 150 million searches a day on GOOGLE. Google search engine can access over 2 billion pages in 74 languages. A study showed that users used Google 13 million hours in one month, compared with Yahoo, which came in second with 5.4 million hours. How did they get so big? I don't know! But I can tell you that it began with their initial vision. The word GOOGLE is a mathematical term for the word #1 with 100 zeroes. A engineer said "It is rare to find people who think on such a grand scale".

After that info, let me ask a question? How big are you willing to dream. What are you willing to believe God for. As I study God's Word I am always impressed by the people I find there. People who lived and saw the remarkable out pouring's of God's blessings, such as; Abraham, Moses, Joshua, Elijah, Elisha and the Apostles. People who knew what it was like to live in midst of GREAT ACTS of God. They didn't just dream about them, they experience them. I believe that we too can live in the midst of GOD'S MIRACLES.

The Book of Joshua tells about moving into the PROMISE LAND. A land of participation not anticipation, land of BIG DREAMS and GREAT MIRACLES. So lets look at ISRALITE LANDMARKS. Landmarks the Hebrews had to pass to get into the promise land. LANDMARKS that tell us if we are moving in the right direction. Did you know that every trip is measured by landmarks. Trips into BIG DREAMS and MIRACLES that are also measured by LANDMARKS. Landmarks of necessity, participation, obedience. Lets look at the three life LANDMARKS.

FIRST. THE LANDMARK OF NECESSITY. What is Joshua saying to the Israelites (read JOSHUA 3:1-3)? He is telling them, you can't go into the promise land by yourself, you need God to lead you. Years prior to this the people failed and if they wanted to go across the Jordon, they would have to do it with God. they could not go back to where they came from for there they are hated and would be destroyed.

They can't go forward on their own, for the land is swarming with great armies who were looking at them like grasshoppers. They are struck between the proverbial rock and a hard place, so Joshua reminds the people that they must follow after God. Did you know, living in this century is an amazing thing. The technology that we have is almost unbelievable; Computers, Fax Machines, Cell phones, Laser Printers, Satellite Communications. you can go to school and learn Medicine, Engineering, Business, Electrical, Carpentry, Mechanics and even Ministry.

But you know what has happened and the problem of technology and education is? They have become so good that we have learned to depend on them and no longer need to depend upon God, and I am not saying we need to do away with technical advances, I believe technologic and education can be a good thing as long as we recognize them as tools for God's service. Not until we become completely dependent upon God can we expect to cross over into the land of BIG DREAMS and GREAT MIRACLES.

SECOND. LANDMARK OF PARTICIPATION. Once we realize our neediness and our need for dependence on God, then we must also realize that God isn't going to go and do with out us. God is calling us to participate in the move He is directing in our life. You know there are times when God won't move, when we try to do it ourselves God wont go for it. God

also won't move when we thing that we can tell Him what do, and God will not move when we are unwilling to participate with Him. That is where the Israelites are at this point in Joshua chapter 3. When we are willing to listen to God and participate in His will then we can expect great things.

THIRD. LANDMARK OF OBEDIENCDE. This may be the most difficult landmark of all. Why do do I say that - because it is LANDMARKED BY FAITH:

***We must give our money in order to receive blessings.

***We must be last in order to be first.

***We must serve in order to be honored.

***We must step into the water in order to cross on dry land.

***We must walk by faith and not by sight.

God has promised us great blessings if we (BY FAITH), obediently participate. That might mean we have to take a step when we don't know where it leads. The Hebrews had THREE LANDMARKS they had to pass to get into the promised land.

The three:     NECESSITY -- PARTICIPATION -- OBEDIENCE.     Are you CROSSING INTO MIRACLES?
