PARENTS PLEASE NOTE: Winter Exams begin on Wednesday, December 11th, and continue until Thursday, December 19th, 2013. All students are responsible for recording the date, time, and room number of their individual exams accurately, and for arriving at least 15 minutes early for their scheduled exams and for bringing the appropriate tools (pens, pencils, calculators, etc.) with them to their exams. A copy of the exam schedule was included in the report-card package sent home on November 13th, and the times, dates, and room numbers of all exams will be posted outside of the main office. Please encourage your children to write down the exam times and locations in their agendas.
Welcome to English with Ms Doucet at NTCI.
Over the course of the year, I will be posting important dates, handouts, and assignments to this webpage. Please go to your grade-and-subject-specific page for information about your course. I will also post supplementary supports, such as critical literacy, grammar, and literary criticism resources.
If you have any general questions about the curriculum for your class, please go refer to the English Curriculum guidelines provided by the Ministry of Education. The curriculum documents can be found at http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/secondary/english.html.
Please note that at North Toronto Collegiate Institute, we take academic honesty and punctuality very seriously. If a student is unable to provide documentation for a late assignment, the student can face late penalities deemed appropriate by the teacher. If the student fails to meet the ulitmate deadline for the assignment, the student will receive a grade of ZERO. Any student who submits a major assignment that has been plagiarised in any way and to any degree will receive a grade of ZERO, and will be referred to the appropriate vice-principal for further consequences. Please see the Toronto District School Board's Academic Honesty Policy at http://schools.tdsb.on.ca/whci/policies/academicdishonesty.html for further details.
To help prevent academic dishonesty, many assignments will be completed in class, and most senior assignments will be submitted to http://www.turnitin.com for review before grading. Any student who does not have a Turn it In account should go to the library for help. Students must register in their specific courses in order to be able to submit assignments. Please see the list in the classroom for Turn It In course codes. For lessons and tutorials about how to use Turn It In, go to YouTube and search for Turn It In videos.
