DLC: The Republic - How to revoke vassal title?

DLC's used:

  • The Old Gods
  • The Republic
  • Rise of Rome
  • Sword of the Islam
Version: 1.10

First of all:

  • You don't actually revoke vassal titles in the coventional sense

Conventional way to (personally) gain a city/province:

  • A (fabricated) claim
  • Through your familiys tradeport and later the city in the province (as a merchant republic)

As a patrician you always want to hold the city not the castle. Having the castle as the primary holding would make you a liege lord somehow. We don't want that, because we want access to the financial power the city provides.

Method of revoking vassal titles:
After winning the war/province, you grant the bishopic, the cities (and if available) and additional castle independence. I immediatly declare a de jure war on each of them and after winning the war you become the only holder of all baronys. Now your primary holding is a city and you get to choose who gets the baronys within the province. This is very helpful if you want to convert the city to your culture (and if it's not the province's culture, yet). It seems to me provinces convert faster to your culture, if all holding within the province are hold by characters of your culture.

What you cannot revoke:

  • Titles of other patricians
  • Titles in your capital
  • Titles in de jure provinces of your (most serene) republic (duchy and kindom tier)

If you have any questions on the topic or CK2 at all, just ask. I hope this helps you out.
