Leading the Way in Textiles Education
Textiles are all around us: from the playing field to the runway, shielding first responders from danger or even shoring up a human heart. At the Wilson College of Textiles, we teach you to apply textiles thinking to the grand challenges facing our world.
By the time you leave here, you’ll know there are thousands of ways to use what you’ve learned in a career that you’ll love. And because ours is the only college on this continent solely focused on textiles, our graduates are among the most sought-out anywhere.

Take a look through Henry Tran’s Journey to the West Collection inspired by his parents’ journey to the U.S. from Vietnam and Teju Lankipalli’s collection NIJAM inspired by a Desi-Western take on professional wear.
Keeping firefighters safe? No biggie
Kinkead Crotts (TE ‘24) is excited to begin working as a personal protective engineer post graduation. Having interned at the company she will be working for she’s excited as she says she “had the ability to be hands-on and actually touch some of the gear and do some of the testing, which was really cool”.

Chase’s future is looking loom-inous!
Chase Woodson (24’) found her passion for #fiberart and interior design through our textile design program. During her time at #NCStateWilson, Chase has traveled to Milan, Italy, honed her weaving skills and studied @penlandschool . Her portfolio has landed her a spot in the Master of Fine Arts program @scadinds !
We asked Chase, what advice would you give to your first-year self?
“What makes the best designer is just someone who can listen to their inner voice. We have a strong perspective and the closer that you can get to something that feels authentic to you, the better designer you will be.”

Class of 2027 upcycled collaborative collections ♻️
First-year fashion and textile design students in studio course FTD 200 are tasked with creating collections with at least 75% upcycled materials and this year’s students did not disappoint!

Kylie Scott (TT `24) has been asking that question for as long as she can remember, so textile technology was the perfect fit for her.
“I think my passion for the subject goes back to how diverse the technologies and the end use applications are,” she says.

Our second-year textile design studio classes are all about yarn and surface design. In preparation for their final project, students have learned tons of new techniques throughout the semester.
Students have the opportunity to use the printing and finishing labs to practice pleating, embroidery, and digital printing. They are also introduced to hands-on work like knitting, crochet, macramé and even screen printing!
