A Goal Beyond the Game
After their 12-5 victory over Syracuse, Yeshiva University's roller hockey team experienced a unique post-game moment. Sol Feder, a freshman player, spotted "Cohen" on an opposing jersey and inquired if the player was Jewish. Daniel Cohen, a 21-year-old from Syracuse, confirmed he was. In the locker room, Sol assisted Daniel, who had never had a Bar Mitzvah, in wrapping tefillin and reciting the Shema. The teammates, moved by the ceremony, erupted into cheers and a celebratory dance. Captured and shared on social media, this event not only marked Daniel’s spiritual milestone but also inspired others to embrace more mitzvahs.

A Fundraising Event to Benefit the Shaare Zion Torah Center.
Avraham Fried, Mordechai Shapiro, Benny Friedman, Yoni Z, Nechemia Katz,
Under the leadership of our senior rabbis, Rabbi Meyer Yedid and Rabbi Raymond Haber, over 120 rabbis and teachers give classes on a wide range of topics, at different levels, catered specifically to each group.
With classes for monthly, weekly, and daily engagement, the Torah Center is a place where one can start learning for the first time, grow to advanced levels, and eventually give back to the community as a teacher. We have programs for directed study, group classes, and structured programs for both men and ladies. The Torah Center has been pivotal in the wide reach of Torah learning in the Syrian Community, and in the world at large.
Shaare Zion Torah Center is the pioneer of the world phenomenon, Habruta Night, where outreach is made to friends, family and acquaintances who are not currently learning Torah. One night a week, the study hall is full of new and soon to become familiar faces and the sounds of hundreds of voices refamiliarizing themselves with Torah study.
