Save yourself

Bottom line: all that matters is money. Short of incorrect or partly incomplete submissions, the repeated suggestion was made to give everyone As. Instructors who gave all As were promoted, retained, praised and/or given good annual reviews. The degrees really do mean nothing or very little as a result.

Current Student

I honestly didn't know that this page was actually a thing. I am currently a student at the UOP.

After reading some of these reviews I have to ask are ya'll attending/attended the same University as me? This school is amazing. Not only does this school care about their students but the academic team is there for me every step of the way. I have not had one issue with them here.

My disbursements are always right on time. My professors are always there when I send an email or text to them. If I do not understand something, my instructor takes the time to actually explain it and do whatever I need to actually get it. I have worked hard and I have to say I have nothing to complain about here.

The university holds you accountable and expects you to put your work in to make sure that you are doing the work and deserve what you are working on. You can not expect to enroll here and do nothing and graduate.

You really have to put your all in. So if you can not do that and you can't make it the whole way then maybe this school is not for you.

Preferred solution: Nothing, I just want people to know that this University is a good school and they care about their students.

User's recommendation: If you decide to take this road then make sure you stick with it cause this university is worth the hard work. IF you out your trust in them, then they will get you to the end goal..

Does not release excess funds in time allotted

In August 2022 The University of Phoenix received funds to cover my classes. Here we are in October, and they still have not released my excess funds.

Since then, I have received more funds and those to have not been processed. They say it is a system error that did not generate the debit memo. If it is true, then someone should be monitoring this. Now they say someone will review my account and issue the debit memo.

If the account had not been reviewed, how would the system generate the debit memo?

They are not following the guidelines for releasing of funds, which makes me wonder if they are capable of handling student finances. They only part they get right is keeping the funds.

I am recommending people not attend your university. Step it up! You promised me more. Apparently once I pay I dont matter! Yes that is a statement and accusation!!

No one can figure out what you guys want. When we ask professors they act like we cannot read. Your assignments and worksheets are not clear. I deserve a clarification as a paying student. I have spent over $10,000 dollars already. I have not learned anything but how to do a PowerPoint and guess at what is expected of me. This is a sad program that needs revamping and some help. I know you think the students figure if out the process is part of it, but this is crazy.

I was scammed

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Why are the loans for students who attended between 2010-**** not being forgiven as well? I was scammed by the same deceptive practices when I met with an adviser in 2010.

I was told UOP was "working with" major companies like Yahoo and MGM, Adobe, and Microsoft, etc. and if I maintained a high gpa and remained in good standing, I would be put into a "graduate pool" with these companies HR people for selection into positions with these major companies. There was no graduate pool and there were no agreements with these companies. So, because I was told this in person, while being pressured to apply for aid and loans, I do not qualify for loan forgiveness because the commercials weren't running yet?

I have a Masters Degree that isn't worth the paper it's printed on, a job that requires only a High School Diploma, and 52k in student loan debt. Thanks UOP.

So, you think having $52K in debt forgiven is a good thing? Wait until you get that 1099C and this is added to your income for the year.

You think the student loan people are bad, wait until the IRS wants their money.

Be careful what you wish for. You're up the creek either way mate.

I know all about the tax implications and I would still prefer to hand my money over the IRS if it meant not giving one more dollar to the scam known as University of Phoenix.

Stay away there are legitimate schools go to the US Dept Of Education for guidance

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I signed up for Business Classes after being told I would qualify for Government Subsidy if I applied with Phoenix University. I applied completed the application with UOP and was told that I needed to change my High School information to graduated since I did not have a high school diploma.

I did that and was approved. They walked me through what I needed to do. I started classes but got no support from professors. Had one trainer who was rude and asked me if I could read.

This was in 2007-**** and a lot of the issues I don't remember but I remember that. Although even without the support of the educators I still held a 3.8 GPA and it dropped from 4.0 due to that one female professor who gave me a 0 on a project for not turning it in and I had proof that I did submit it. She would not even discuss looking for it, offered no feedback other than I was out of luck. It was after that I dropped out.

Then I got a letter they added 4200 plus to what I owed and said I had to pay them directly not even sure what that was for since it was at the end of a semester. Then a long time later I started getting letters about the student loans and I saw the 4200 was added as a separate loan. I know I made numerous calls at the time to a company called ACS and the University and got know where. ACS also had a lot of misinformation and I decided 4 years ago to ask Great Lakes to buy it out and consolidate the 2 loans that had been split.

I have been financially wiped out providing home hospice care for my aged and ailing mother from 2010 till she passed away in 2017. I still have not recovered and have been on a forgiveness plan with Great Lakes with interest continuing to accrue. I am 60 years old and have no idea where I would get this money. In addition, that partial time at University of Phoenix did nothing to benefit me at all employment wise.

Was a waste of time and money.

It is only now I was told about all the complaints about UOP I was shocked actually that the issues the same and similar to mine have been consistent with them from when I first got involved with them. I don't understand why nothing can be done. There has to be an issue with so many complaints over the course of more than 12 years in numerous states.

Why is no one looking into this.? People are incurring tens of thousands of dollars in lifelong debt and getting little to nothing, that a University is being well paid for, out if it.

Save your money and go back to elementary school

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I quit because it was a giant waste of money. It is essentially a glorfied elementary school. Thousands of dollars and they want to teach you how to write a dam check. That was the final straw for me because I suddenly realized they were filling the courses with fluff and filler in order to bleed you out of almost a year in loans and you learn nothing. If you never attended junior high or elementary school then this place is for you. They will teach you all kinds of writing all of which is useless since NO ONE in the real world writes in APA standard, and you will learn how to write a check and balance a checkbook, something i learned in 5th grade. Save your money and go elsewhere. Spent a year chasing an IT degree and never did learn a single thing about IT. Oh and lets not forget you are paying them to have other students teach the classes not even a real teacher instead you get a student that still hasn't even finished school themselves. They must save a bundle on payroll ripping people off this way.

Financial Aid Disaster

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If you are smart, you will not attend this "university". I have been to a university before, online and on campus, and my experience with financial aid has never been this horrific. 1st of all, lets speak on the cost difference, OUCH! It's bad enough that the school is mega pricey, but your 1st 3 classes are irrelevant, yet costly. If you feel it's necessary to educate me about how to be an online student, do it for free! 2nd, the financial aid office is full of *** that are given a list of things to say when asked specific questions. No details or anything remotely close to actual help. I started school in March. Here it is almost June and my pell grant JUST posted to my account a MONTH after my loans posted. Now they're saying I must wait an additional 2 weeks for them to release the excess funds THEN another 3 to 5 days for it to be released to my checking account. I am not understanding why their process is so much more difficult than everyone elses. This will be my 1st and last year in this school. It is way too expensive for them to move this slow. I do not appreciate the lack of urgency & I cannot wait to transfer!!!!!

Their Sales Staff lied to me and said all my college credits would count and that my tuition would be taken care of by the Pell Grants and scholarships offered at the school. She (Linda Gettle) flat out lied about this.

I started school and took four classes that don't count and cost me $8,000. Crazy. I was sick and out of work at the time. She preyed on my weakness.

The stress caused me to get even sicker. They attached my tax returns and ruined my credit.

I had the same thing happen to me in 2007. I told them I didn't want a loan and the person said "I understand"...

Eric was friendly and talked about his family and home life and told me that since I was divorced and in my 50s and haven't had a fulltime job since I was in my 30s (stay at home mom) I should qualify for a grant. I at first only had to take four classes and then they said no it's seven classes. I told him several times I didn't want a loan because I had a credit card bill. He always said "I understand" It was later when they contacted me about furthering my education that I found out I had a loan.

I was pretty upset. I lost many nights of sleep and cried a lot... Yes they take your tax money and now they are taking my social security money. Mine was almost the amount of yours.

I didn't pay on this lie so with interest I don't know what the balance is now or how high it got up to. I do not like liars.

Frustrated

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I started school in February, here is it May and my Pell Grant has disappeared leaving me with a balance on my account. For the last 3 weeks I’ve been told that it will post once they have reviewed all the files because they had to remove my pell and replace it with the amount that was 50 bucks more.

Rent is already late and I’m tired of UoP giving me the run around. Has anyone else received their disbursements for this year?

I am having the exact same issue you are. My pell grant also disappeared and I was told it was because the school decided to use my 2019 **** fafsa for the bigger amount.

I keep being told it will post to my account by the end if the week. It has been iver a month now

Financial aid horror

I have had nothing but problem with the financial aid department since I have started at University of Phoenix! I started in July, was assured that my financial aid was processing as normal.

Come time for my to receive a financial aid disbursement in August, I was told that I needed to fix and issue. I had to call them in order for them to inform me about this issue a month after I started. I sent in document after document and they continued to make excuses. I even had an employee laugh in my face due to me stating my frustration with their terrible service.

Finally after 2 months of attending and me resolving my own issue without their help, I received my disbursement. Now, it has been almost a week since the funds posted, and they are still holding my funds. It is as if they noted on my account to hold the funds as long as possible. This is an outrage!

I have educational expenses outside of University of Phoenix.

I think that it is a shame that the department has such lack of respect for the students. I will be contacting a higher authority!!!

I am having the same issue for the 3rd year in a row. I am a 4.0 GPA student so this is not an academic probation issue.

It is a heartless school trying to improve their bottom line during the reaccreditation process issue! I have read countless posts from other students in our forum and heard from others that are facing eviction, have no food and are losing utilities that they are hearing the same "Our research team is looking into it" excuses. Today almost 7,400 went missing from my account with no debit memo. The manager showed a screenshot with debit memos totaling half that amount and claimed they were sent out but her staff and my account disagree!

One said the $7,400 was wrongfully mailed. The next said neither was mailed but if the higher check was written it would take up to 15 days to cancel it a reissue a correct one plus mailing time =eviction for me! Rise like a Phoenix?

Heck no! You are more like a clay pigeon at a skeet shoot with a driveby education!
